The Lost Alpha Queen: Heaven and Hell Bound

Chapter 68

Chapter 68

Adolphus' POV

Something was wrong. Very wrong.

Katrina wasn’t in the cell as we thought, and my brother’s warriors had suddenly retreated, leaving me stranded.

Betrayal.

That was the only explanation for this mess. Gritting my teeth, I clenched my fists. Fine. I would do this alone. If no one would stand with me, I’d find Katrina myself.

First, I needed allies. And there was only one person I could think of right now—the Pack Doctor. She had always been loyal, and through her, I could possibly get in contact with others.

If there were still people I could trust, she would know. And more importantly, she might have information on where Katrina was being held.

Without wasting another second, I sprinted toward the Pack Clinic. My lungs burned with every breath, but I didn’t stop.

When I reached the clinic, my stomach twisted, it was empty. Not a single soul in sight. I turned on my heel and ran toward the doctor's home instead, my heart pounding against my ribs.

The moment I reached her doorstep, a young boy, her grandson, opened the door. His eyes widened when he saw me, but instead of relief, I saw fear.

“Where’s your grandmother?” I asked, my voice urgent.

The boy hesitated, glancing back inside before shaking his head. “She’s not here.”

I narrowed my eyes. “Where is she?”

Silence. The boy's fingers twitched at his sides. Then, just as I was about to push further, he blurted out the last thing I ever expected to hear.

“She was taken.”

My entire body stiffened. “What?”

“Princess Cassandra took her.”

Cassandra. Of course. My jaw clenched so tightly I thought my teeth might crack.

When? How? Why? My mind raced for answers, but before I could press him further, a sharp, searing pain shot through my chest.

My breath hitched. It felt like someone had taken a red-hot blade and driven it straight through my ribcage.

Katrina.

I staggered, grabbing the doorway for support as I clenched my fists. The mate bond, it was reacting. She was in pain. Excruciating pain.

Then, as if the Goddess herself had forced open the link between us, I heard her voice in my mind.

Adolphus...

My head snapped up. “Katrina!” I called out through the mind link. “Where are you? Hold on, I’m coming!”

It hurts... Her voice was weak, trembling, almost breathless. I swallowed hard, panic rising in my chest.

“Stay with me, Katrina. Tell me where you are!” I urged.

She struggled to speak. Dark... stone walls... cold... chains...

I tried to picture it. The dungeon? No, she wasn’t there. This sounded different.

“Who’s hurting you?” My voice was a snarl.

There was silence, then a sharp cry of pain. It felt like a dagger straight through my heart. I gritted my teeth, my entire body trembling with fury. I was going to rip whoever did this to shreds.

Katrina! I called again, desperate.

A shaky breath. It’s... the Rogue Alpha...

Everything inside me snapped. My vision turned red, my wolf howled in rage, and an uncontrollable fury surged through me.

“I’m coming, Katrina. Hold on!”

With renewed determination, I turned and ran into the night. The hunt was on.
