The Lost Alpha Queen: Heaven and Hell Bound

Chapter 32

Chapter 32

Katrina’s POV

The cold, soapy water soaked through my dress as I scrubbed the wooden floor, my hands raw and aching from hours of relentless labor. My knees throbbed against the hard surface, but I forced myself to keep moving, ignoring the sharp pain stabbing through my joints.

I wasn’t alone.

Around me, other Omegas worked in silence, their eyes dull, their expressions hollow. Some had long since accepted this fate, reduced to nothing, treated as less than dirt. But I wasn’t like them.

I wasn’t meant to be here.

A tear rolled down my cheek before I could stop it, and I quickly wiped it away, not wanting anyone to see. Weakness was dangerous. Showing it only made things worse.

I bit my lip as I recalled the moment I had been dragged here.

The Omega soldiers had shown no mercy. They had shoved me, insulted me, and stripped me of every last ounce of dignity.

"You were once a Gamma, huh? Look at you now—nothing but a pathetic, fallen Omega!"

Their words still echoed in my head. And then, as if the gods wanted to add more torment, I remembered what I had seen right before I was taken.

Adolphus.

With Cassandra.

Their lips pressed together in a kiss.

A sob escaped before I could suppress it, and my shoulders trembled.

Why, Adolphus? Had everything been a lie? Had I been nothing to him?

"Hey," a soft voice whispered behind me, making my heart leap in fear.

I stiffened, my pulse hammering. Had one of the guards caught me slacking?

Slowly, I turned my head, expecting to see a cruel face sneering down at me. But instead, I saw a girl, a young woman, around my age, with warm brown eyes and dark curls cascading over her shoulders. She clutched a scrub brush just like mine, her gaze gentle, almost kind.

She smiled.

"Follow me," she whispered.

I hesitated, glancing around. The other Omegas were still bent over their work, and for now, there were no guards in sight.

"Why?" I whispered back.

Her smile widened. "Just trust me."

Something about her eyes made me feel safe. Curiosity won over caution, and I gave a small nod.

Carefully, we set our brushes down and slipped away, moving quietly toward a darkened corner of the large hall. She led me behind a counter where we were hidden from view.

She turned to me and stretched out her hand. "I’m Jasmine."

I hesitated before shaking it. "Katrina."

"I know who you are," she said, her voice filled with certainty.

I frowned. "You do?"

She nodded. "You have a strong wolf."

I let out a bitter laugh. "Well, I didn’t shift. Otherwise, I wouldn’t be here."

Jasmine tilted her head, as if she saw something in me that I couldn’t. "You’ll see soon enough."

Before I could ask what she meant, she reached into the folds of her dress and pulled out a small cup, filled with something dark and rich.

My instincts screamed at me to step back, but she held it out with an encouraging nod.

"Drink."

I hesitated, suspicion flaring in my gut.

"What is it?"

"It won’t harm you," she assured me. "I can see how thirsty you are. This will help."

I swallowed hard. She was right, I was parched. But could I trust her? She hadn’t done anything to hurt me so far, and something about her presence felt different.

Slowly, I took the cup from her hands. The moment the liquid touched my lips, warmth spread through me. It was sweet, a mixture of berries and something richer, smoother. Unlike anything I had ever tasted.

I drank deeply.

The moment I finished, I felt lighter.

The burning anger and frustration that had been twisting inside me for hours seemed to dull, replaced by a quiet sense of calm.

Jasmine smiled knowingly. "Better?"

I nodded, swallowing the last drop. "Thank you," I whispered.

She stepped closer, her voice lowering. "I have something to tell you, Katrina."

I straightened. "What is it?"

Her eyes flickered, and for the first time, I noticed something unusual about them. A glow, faint but undeniable.

She leaned in. "I’m a witch."

My breath hitched. My fingers tightened around the empty cup. Witches weren’t allowed in our Pack. Any magical being that wasn’t a wolf was forbidden. And yet, here she was.

"Why are you here?" I asked cautiously.

Jasmine gave a small smile. "That’s… personal."

I frowned. "But—"

She cut me off with a gentle pat on my shoulder. "You don’t need to worry about me, Katrina. Worry about yourself. You’re destined for more than this."

A bitter laugh escaped me. "I’m just an Omega now."

"You’re not just an Omega." Her voice was firm. "And soon, you’ll see why."

I wanted to believe her so desperately but I hadn't shifted. That was why I was here. That was why I had lost everything.

If I couldn’t shift, I was nothing. As if reading my thoughts, Jasmine let out a small chuckle and squeezed my shoulder.

"You’re here for a reason, Katrina. Don’t ever forget that."

Before I could ask her what she meant, the sound of boots echoed through the halls–the guards. Panic shot through me. I turned to run back to my spot, but Jasmine grabbed my arm, stopping me.

"Wait," she said urgently.

I turned to her, my heart pounding. "We have to go, they’ll—"

"Listen to me," she interrupted. "I need you to tell Adolphus something."

My stomach dropped. She knew Adolphus?

I stared at her, shock numbing my limbs. "H-how do you know him?" I whispered.

Jasmine ignored the question.

"Tell him to go back to the river," she said quickly. "The place where you found him. He needs to recover his memories as soon as possible."

My mouth fell open. How did she know about that? How did she know I was the one who found him?

My heart pounded as a thousand questions swirled through my mind, but before I could speak, she did something even more shocking.

Jasmine vanished into thin air.
