Accidentally Slept With The Ruthless Billionaire

Chapter 610: Ill Find Out The Truth

Chapter 610: Ill Find Out The Truth

Michael, who had stayed quiet until now, quickly spoke up. “Sophia, you’ve got it all wrong!”

Dave cut in before the argument could flare. “Hold on. Let’s start with an explanation first.”

Sophia sighed and stayed quiet after telling Dave what Michael had done. Michael sat there too, looking restless.

Dave could feel the tension between them. It wasn’t going to be easy to fix, but he had to try. “This matter—”

Before he could finish, his phone rang. It was Bianca. Dave answered quickly, almost relieved by the interruption. When the call ended, he used Bianca’s concern for Sophia as a reason to send her off first.

“Bianca’s worried about you,” he said. “You should head home. Don’t keep her waiting. I’ll deal with Michael and make sure he doesn’t bother you again.”

“Okay. Thank you, Mr. Evans,” Sophia said, then walked out.

Dave’s eyes turned cold as he looked at Michael. “Can’t you settle things with Sophia without making a scene? Why would you follow a famous actress? Did it even cross your mind what would happen if someone filmed that?”

Michael gave a nervous laugh, trying to ease the tension. “It’s not what you think…”

“Then what is it?” Dave cut him off. “Do you want a repeat of what happened by the sea?”

The words hit Michael like ice water. The memory was still sharp, how he’d almost pushed Sophia to the point of jumping into the sea. After that disaster, he’d gone back to Blosa, pressured down by guilt and depression.

Dave had told him then that he didn’t understand love. Since that day, Michael had spent countless hours trying to figure out what it really meant.

“Sometimes, I really can’t tell if you love her at all,” Dave said, his irritation showing. He didn’t want to drag the conversation any further and walked back to his chair.

Michael, now serious, stepped forward. “Don’t worry, Mr. Evans. I’ll make things right with Sophia. I promise nothing like that will ever happen again.”

Dave let out a sigh, his expression softening slightly. “Tell me about the project overseas. How’s it going?”

Michael sat down across from him. “It’s finished. Everything’s in order.”

“Good.” Dave gave a small nod. “I trust you with it.”

“Thanks to you, I finally have my place. I have a voice in the Hayes family now, no more bowing to my mother.”

Michael’s fists tightened. The years of living under her control were still fresh in his mind. But now, things are different. That was why he had gone to find Sophia again.

A faint grin crossed Dave’s face. He picked up a file from his desk and handed it to Michael.

“By the way, the reason I called you here is because I need your help investigating Universal Pictures overseas, and someone in particular.”

Michael opened the file and began to read.

“Brenda McGee? The representative of Universal Pictures?” Michael looked up from the file, confused. “Is something wrong with her? I thought you just met her.”

“Yes, but something about her doesn’t feel right,” Dave said, then told him about the strange events from that night.

When he finished, Michael raised an eyebrow. “What a coincidence.”

Dave’s eyes shifted to the window, his expression hardening as he looked down at the busy streets. “I don’t believe in coincidences. Look at the traffic out there. There’s no way the same car could crash in the same spot twice.”

To him, these so-called coincidences felt planned. Especially now. After Brenda had invited Bianca out, Bianca had suddenly lost consciousness. At the same time, Dave had been taken away by Reese. It could be called a coincidence, but it didn’t feel like one.

But the room where Bianca had stayed? It used to belong to Brenda. The next morning, Brenda and Bianca had gone to Dave’s room together, trying to catch him in an affair.

Michael caught on to what Dave was implying. Something about all of it felt wrong.

“I’ll handle it. Don’t worry,” Michael said firmly. “I’ll find out the truth, and you’ll get what you need.”

He closed the file. “I’ll start the investigation tomorrow.”

“Good,” Dave said. “Check her movements, who she met before she got here, and see if there’s anything unusual in her bank records.”

“I understand.”

Michael walked over to the French window and stood beside Dave. Across from them, the LED screen on a nearby building was lit up, playing an announcement for Universal Pictures’ selection competition.

His eyes landed on the contestants, and there were Sophia and Nicolas.

Michael’s mind went back to that night at the Jiselond Club. If it hadn’t been for Nicolas, he wouldn’t have gotten jealous or treated Sophia the way he did.

Nicolas’s interest in Sophia was clear. It was a surprise to see him join the competition too. He was obviously trying to get close to her.

The thought made Michael’s irritation grow.

“Are you and Bianca confident about this competition?” he asked.

“What do you think?” Dave replied calmly.

Michael understood right away. “That’s good. I don’t want anyone else to win,” he said eagerly.

He couldn’t wait for Nicolas to be eliminated and stay away from Sophia.

Meanwhile, Sophia got out of the car and headed home.

Elaine was playing a game with Bianca when she arrived. The moment she saw Sophia, Elaine ran into her arms. “I missed you so much, Mom. Bianca played with me all night. Why did you come back so late?”

“I’m so sorry. Something came up unexpectedly. I didn’t mean to keep Elaine waiting. I missed you, too.”

Sophia played with Elaine until the little girl fell asleep. Then she and Bianca sat down on the sofa.

“What happened, Sophia? Why did you and Michael…” Bianca stopped herself, not wanting to upset her.

But Sophia didn’t look like she was about to break down. Everything she’d been through seemed to have made her stronger. She told Bianca about being harassed and followed by Michael.

“What? Is he crazy? Why would he do that?” Bianca asked, shocked.

Sophia gave a small smile and went on. “It was called harassment, but in truth… when I was filming abroad, I ran into a lot of trouble. Yet, those problems always got solved easily. It felt like someone was secretly helping me. At first, I thought I was imagining things, but as time passed and more situations came up, I started to believe someone out there was protecting me. Then flowers started arriving anonymously. I thought they were from a fan…”

“Was it Michael?” Bianca asked curiously.
