Chapter 604: Don’t Stress About It
Dave didn’t respond. He leaned down and whispered the plan into Bianca’s ear.
As soon as she heard it, her eyes lit up. A smirk appeared on her lips. “That’s smart. No wonder people call you sneaky. But let’s get one thing straight, if we’re being honest here, stop giving Reese a hard time. She’s had more than enough.”
Dave’s face darkened, but he didn’t argue. He knew she wasn’t wrong. And if Reese didn’t feel safe, the whole plan could fall apart before it even started.
“Fine,” Dave said shortly. “I won’t give her a hard time. Happy now?”
Bianca turned to Reese and gently took her arm, her voice softening. “Good. Now go wash your face and pull yourself together. You can’t keep hiding. Don’t forget how many people out there love you and look up to you.”
Her words were like a small beam of light cutting through the dark. Reese’s eyes brightened slightly, and a bit of strength returned to her. She knew her fans deserved more from her.
Dave’s plan was complicated but clear.
Reese was everywhere in the tabloids. She was famous, admired, and always in the spotlight. And with that fame came the dark side: obsessed fans who didn’t know where to draw the line.
Zane had stayed out of the public eye for so long that he barely looked like himself anymore. He’d changed so much that he was almost impossible to recognize. Now, he was going to play the role of Reese’s obsessed fan.
The plan was simple. This fake fan kidnapped Reese. She escaped and ended up hiding at the Sapphire Hotel.
As for Blake, they were going to beat him at his own game by feeding him a different version of the story.
“Remember,” Bianca told Reese, her tone sharp and clear, “last night, you brought Dave to a hotel. Someone knocked. You opened the door and got kidnapped. When you woke up, you were in a slum. You escaped and made it to the Sapphire Hotel.”
Bianca went over the story again, word for word. It was supposed to be a simpler setup at first, but Dave had pointed out a problem earlier, the Lawson Group’s men had been spotted in the slum that morning. That changed everything.
“When you got to the hotel, your phone was dead,” Bianca continued. “You just managed to charge it and turn it back on. You’re scared. Really scared.”
Reese nodded, taking it all in. As an actress, playing this role would be easy.
“I got it,” she said. “But… what if calling Blake puts me in danger?”
Her voice trembled a little, showing she was still nervous. Dave had already warned her that this wouldn’t be successful without any lying danger.
“Don’t stress about it,” Bianca tried to comfort her. “Just tell him you called me, too. I’ll be waiting by the elevator when he arrives. You’ll be fine.”
She said it to calm Reese, but the real safety plan was something else: Dave’s undercover bodyguards.
Once everything was in place, Dave and Bianca left the room. His men, including the waiters who were actually part of his team, were already stationed throughout the floor, ready for anything.
The moment Dave stepped outside, he stopped and said, “I think Blake’s been following you this whole time. He’s probably nearby.”
“I’ll call him,” Bianca said. “I’ll tell him Reese is safe and with me at the Sapphire Hotel. I’ll ask him to come right away.”
Dave looked at her and smiled. “Looks like you’ve gotten smarter since hanging out with me.”
“Excuse me? I’ve always been smart.” Bianca gave him a playful punch. “Don’t flatter yourself. And seriously, how could you be so careless? If Zane hadn’t stepped in, our names would’ve been dragged through the mud.”
“It was an accident,” Dave muttered. Then he paused, his face turning serious. He knew she was right. He’d dropped his guard around the people close to her. He never thought Reese would drug him. “It won’t happen again.”
Soon after, a video of Reese assuring her fans that she was safe was posted on Twitter. She even started replying to their messages.
At the same time, she called Blake. When he picked up, there was only silence on the other end.
“Blake… I’m sorry,” Reese said, her voice shaky and filled with fear. “Something happened. I was kidnapped last night.”
She made it sound like she was struggling to talk, her voice trembling. “I’m sorry… I’m so useless…”
“Don’t apologize,” Blake said softly. “I’ve been trying to reach you. Do you have any idea how worried I was? Where are you? I’ll come get you right now.”
In the past, Reese would’ve been moved by his words. She would’ve believed that Blake truly cared about her, more than any plan or outcome. But now, things are different.
“I got away,” she said. “I’m at the Sapphire Hotel, Room 605.”
“I’m coming,” Blake replied.
He ended the call, his face hard and unreadable. He was only a few minutes away.
Slamming his foot on the gas, the engine let out a deafening roar, turning heads as the car shot forward, speeding down the road.
Suddenly, his phone rang again. It was Bianca.
"Blake, I found Reese. She's in Room 605 at the Sapphire Hotel. Hurry, she's been through a lot."
"Got it. I’m on my way," he replied.
As he ended the call, a hint of anxiety crept in. Bianca and Dave had found Reese before he could.
Would she say something? Would she expose him?
As Blake stepped out of the elevator, his steps grew heavier. With every stride down the hallway, his nerves tightened. He didn’t know what to expect.
When he reached Room 605, he paused for a moment, took a deep breath, and knocked.
The door opened, and Dave stood there. His face gave nothing away, and that bothered Blake even more. He didn’t move until Dave stepped aside and let him in.
“Reese… I’m so glad you’re okay,” Blake said as he walked toward the sofa.
Reese was curled up, hugging her knees. She looked small, scared, like a wounded animal trying to protect itself.
When Reese heard Blake’s voice, she looked up with teary eyes. “I’m sorry for making you worry.”
“Why are you the one apologizing?” Bianca said gently, rubbing her back. “It's the Lawson Hotel’s security that failed. Blake should be the one saying sorry.”
She looked at Reese with warmth. “Don’t worry. Dave already sent someone to track down that crazy fan. I’ll stay with you and make sure no one bothers you again.”
