Destined by One Night: The CEO's Pursuit

Chapter 10

Chapter 10

Sergio walked into the office and meaningfully looked at Malcolm, who was immersed in loneliness.

Julian told Sergio that Malcolm had been missing Carolyn Remington the whole night.

Sergio remembered Carolyn. She was a pretty girl with clear and big eyes.

The Remington family and the Lowe family were neighbors. When Malcolm was unhappy, Carolyn would try to make him happy.

Malcolm liked her very much. However, it was because of Malcolm that Carolyn disappeared. Nothing could relieve his terrible sense of blame.

Sergio walked over to Malcolm and said slowly, "Malcolm, Miss Remington called again and asked when you would be there. She said that the two families were going to discuss your marriage."

Malcolm took a glance at Sergio with deep-set eyes and said coldly, "An adopted daughter wants to marry me in place of Lynn. Don't you think the Remington family is ridiculous?"

Sergio answered, "Since you don't want to go there, I'll call to refuse her later."

"Well." Malcolm became sullen. He knew Yvonne hoped he could be there, but he would not be obedient to her.

She had robbed his mother of everything, and his mother had disappeared because of her. Therefore, Malcolm decided to get even with Yvonne sooner or later.

The car accident that happened the day before was not a coincidence. Julian had investigated it. And because of Yvonne, Malcolm had lost a lot.

Sergio had no intention of leaving.

Malcolm raised his eyebrow and looked at him with displeasure. Then, he said indifferently, "What else?"

Sergio continued unhurriedly, "Hannah said that she wanted to get married and would not be back. She informed us to find someone to take over her job."

Malcolm smiled and said, "Looks like Hannah is serious this time. She even chases after the man and is about to get married.

"However, I don't know if the man deserves her. I had seen him before, and he's not that good. I hope she can live a happy life.

"Ask her when they will get married. She had worked in the company for three years and made a lot of profits. We should send her a present."

Sergio smiled and nodded, and his voice was warm and pleasant. "Sure. I have told her about Marilyn. She said that she knew Marilyn and liked her design philosophy very much. She believed Marilyn would be qualified for the position."

Malcolm nodded. When he thought about Marilyn, he had a strange feeling.

Especially her eyes, he was fascinated with them.

Malcolm squinted and smiled evilly. "Tell Marilyn to come to my office. I will talk to her."

He had to admit that he had been attracted and persuaded by her vivid explanation in the morning.

Marilyn was the first person to be able to get Malcolm's approval at the first round of draft reviews.

Sergio nodded and did not say a word when he saw Malcolm's smile. He turned around and smiled too. He became somewhat excited because he knew the work might be interesting in the future.

He walked out elegantly.

Malcolm stared behind him and frowned. He picked up the document on his desk and waved it at Sergio's back, but he did not throw it out.

He wondered why Sergio liked pretending and why he pretended to be proud in front of him.

How could Sergio be less talkative than him?

After Sergio left, Malcolm straightened up and said to himself with a smile, "That's right. He is suitable to be a secretary."

After Marilyn received Sergio's message, she cheered herself up and walked to the president's office.

When she stood at the door, Malcolm's evil smile came to her mind. Marilyn was somewhat unwilling to go into his office.

She had saved him the day before, but he hadn't expressed his appreciation to her. She wasn't someone who cared about that, but she still felt uncomfortable.

Marilyn lifted her hand but did not knock on the door. She bit her lip and hesitated whether she should go into the office.

However, could she leave?

She had to rely on Malcolm's salary to support her family.

Marilyn took a deep breath to calm down. Then, she decided to go into the office.

She knew she would be even more worried if she didn't go in.

She knocked on the door.

"Come in." There came a cold but pleasant voice.

Marilyn pushed the door open and walked into the office.

Malcolm compressed his lips and squinted at Marilyn's clear eyes.

She was nervous. When Malcolm found that, he smiled secretly, and there was even a trace of an evil smile in his eyes.

"What can I do for you, Mr. Lowe?" Marilyn asked politely and went straight to the point.

She took a casual glance at the spacious and bright office.

It was well-matched to Malcolm.

However...

Marilyn fixed her eyes on the lollipops on Malcolm's desk.

As an adult, why did Malcolm like lollipops?

It wasn't strange. She liked strawberry-flavored lollipops too.

Malcolm observed her in detail and said peacefully, "Ms. Chapman, you will be transferred back to the head office to be the design director. Your salary will be doubled, and you have a two-day weekend."

What Marilyn had been worried about did happen.

A doubled salary and a two-day weekend were so tempting.

However, her family was in Goldmere.

She had already found a school for her children, and she had decided to accompany them.

Marilyn smiled and tried to make it short. "Mr. Lowe, I am afraid I can't do that. My family is in Goldmere."

Malcolm did not expect Marilyn to refuse him, so he could not help but frown. There should be no reason to reject the job.

In order to work in the Lowe Group, the citizens of Fielddell would try everything they could do, but Marilyn refused the opportunity.

However, Marilyn was indeed a talent. In Malcolm's eyes, she was the only person who could pass through the design drawings review at the first round.

He smiled evilly and said sarcastically, "Ms. Chapman, do you feel that you are not qualified to be the design director of the head office?"

Malcolm's challenging words made Marilyn combative.

With a professional smile on her face, she replied confidently and calmly, "Mr. Lowe, you have been imaginative. My design drawings were passed by you in one go. There is no doubt about my ability. I am qualified to be the director, and it is not a pressure for me. However, my family is in Goldmere."

Marilyn explained her concerns. She would be worthless if Malcolm kept misunderstanding her.

She had suffered a lot for the design.

Hearing that, Malcolm was speechless. He exclaimed in his mind that Marilyn was beautiful and eloquent. He decided to throw the question back to her.

"I won't care about that. From today on, Ms. Chapman, you are a member of the head office. I will send someone else to the branch office." Malcolm's words were simple and crude.
