Destined by One Night: The CEO's Pursuit

Chapter 9

Chapter 9

The meeting used to be boring, but now under her wonderful description, everyone's attention was attracted by her clear and melodious voice.

Finally, Marilyn finished her presentation amid warm applause.

Malcolm narrowed his eyes as he looked at Marilyn. He began to admire her because she was one in a million.

To be able to become the design director within three years, she really did a good job.

Only those talented people who got fairly good at designing and really put a lot of thought into it could draw out such exquisite costumes.

His tone was indifferent, "Everyone, take a look at these designs. Do you have any opinions? I have to say I am very satisfied."

Malcolm had always been scrupulous in separating public from private interests, and he was very serious about his work.

His words meant he believed in Marilyn's ability.

Marilyn smiled excitedly. She stayed up all night to draw and design. Now it appeared her efforts have paid off.

Everyone shook their heads. They had no objections.

Malcolm looked around and said, "All right. Let's call it a day. How about going to the bar in the Vogue Plaza tonight?" He got up and went back to his office.

After walking a few steps and almost reaching Marilyn, Malcolm suddenly stopped and looked at her with an evil smile, "Ms. Chapman, you did a good job making the product design strategy and plan. You are very precise with our company's brand positioning, image, and style.

You will coordinate the internal and external relationships of the departments, build the product design team, develop tasks, and distribute the new product design. You have a keen sense of the fashion industry. I believe you can do these well."

Marilyn's gloating smile froze.

She forced a smile, "Mr. Lowe, I am only responsible for fashion design and I have only been transferred to the headquarters for one month. It's beyond my ability to complete these in such a short month."

In the beginning, she thought it was a very easy job, so she agreed to be transferred.

It took her great determination to leave her three children.

When Malcolm heard her words, he frowned slightly. This was a problem. But he didn't know when Hannah would return, because she was out in search of her beloved.

Malcolm was deep in thought.

Marilyn held her breath, nervously waiting for his reply.

When she saw he pulled out his phone, she took a slight breath.

"Sergio, give Hannah a call and ask about her situation overseas."

"Alright!" Sergio nodded.

Then Malcolm strode out of the conference room.

Marilyn was confused. She thought, "Doesn't Hannah only leave for a month?

Why does he have to ask about her situation?

In September, my three children are going to the primary school. I cannot stay here and work. I have to go back to Goldmere.

It is not the right time to take revenge. I am not ready for it now. I prepare to come back and carry out my plan half a year later."

Sergio smiled and walked to Marilyn, "Ms. Chapman, let me take you to your office!"

"OK, thank you!" Marilyn forced a smile. She pulled out the USB drive, her eyes sweeping the crowd. After making sure that no one was taking photos, she followed Sergio out.

These designs were the new products of this season. They absolutely could not be leaked out.

She had thought that her office would be on the twenty-fourth floor.

However, now she found it was on the twenty-fifth floor and right opposite Malcolm's office.

Her office was large, spacious, and bright. It was decorated mainly in white. It looked fashionable and grand. There were two desks in it.

Sergio smiled and said, "Ms. Chapman, here is your office. The document with the phone numbers of all the departments is on your desk. Billie McKenzie, your assistant, will be here tomorrow."

"Thank you, Sergio," Marilyn said with a smile and put her documents on the desk.

She put the USB in the inner bag of her purse with caution.

The design industry was chaotic.

The work could be plagiarized.

When Marilyn was a newcomer, her design had been stolen twice by other designers. She couldn't speak it out at that time, but she learned a lesson and remembered it.

Sergio looked at her, and a faint smile flickered across his lips.

Marilyn's lips curved in a smile too. Being attractive and pure, she was a rare beauty. People always couldn't help fixing their eyes on her.

Sergio said, "Ms. Chapman, if you need any help, please feel free to call me."

"Alright!" Marilyn smiled gently and nodded. She felt that Sergio was kind.

Sergio smiled and left Marilyn's office.

The arrival of Marilyn and her design philosophy was known by all the staff members in the building soon.

Everyone was curious about and jealous of her.

Marilyn sat in the spacious and bright office.

She entered the data on her hand into the computer.

She didn't have much work to do, but she had a nasty feeling after hearing Malcolm's words.

She took out her phone and called Roland.

The phone was connected soon. There came Roland's cheerful and excited voice.

"Lynn, is your work going well?"

"Roland, I am afraid I can't have dinner with you tonight. Mr. Lowe said that he would celebrate for me. He wanted to have dinner at the Vogue Plaza and then go to KTV," Marilyn said in a tone full of guilt. She had promised to celebrate with Roland, but she couldn't show up.

It was not the first time for Marilyn to break the appointment, but Roland had never been angry with her.

"It seems that your autumn design has been approved. Congratulations, Lynn."

"Yes." Marilyn bit her lip and smiled.

"Your design has always been unique. It does matter, Lynn. We can celebrate it the day after tomorrow," Roland said. He was happy for her.

"Alright. The day after tomorrow is OK," Marilyn said.

Marilyn hung up the phone after chatting for a while with Roland. Then she began to deal with the affairs on her hand.

In the office of Malcolm.

The more than 1000 square feet office was in a European style. It was spacious and bright.

Malcolm sat in a chair and put his hands on the armrests. It seemed that he was missing someone, and he fixed his profound eyes on the floor-to-ceiling window.

He wondered why Marilyn's eyes were so familiar.

As soon as he saw her the day before, he thought her clear and pure eyes were the same as Carolyn's.

No one had a deeper impression of Carolyn than he did.

Carolyn had said that she wanted to learn fashion design. So, he devoted himself to the design industry, hoping to find her.

However, after so many years, there was no news about her.

Malcolm touched his forehead and leaned against the back of the chair. The night before, he was sleepless again. Occasionally, he fell asleep, but nightmares kept bothering him. After a long while, he opened his ice-cold eyes.
