Revenge with My Quadruplets

Chapter 148

Chapter 148

Of course, he knew he couldn't hide the fact that he and Charlotte were together forever.

However, he didn't want Charlotte's brothers to find out suddenly and take it out on her when the time came.

What was more, today's rose incident made Kingsley impatient for the world to know that Charlotte was his.

He couldn't wait to hide her, to lock her up, to imprison her where only he could see her. But he couldn't do that.

He was afraid she'd lose her smile, that she'd stop being starry-eyed.

Kingsley couldn't help but reflect and despise himself for being so despicable, for being unworthy of such a pure and beautiful being as Charlotte. He was in a constant state of uncertainty and anxiety.

As Kingsley waited with bated breath, Charlotte said, "Actually, you did all this for me, right?"

"What?" Kingsley froze.

Charlotte chuckled softly. "You're afraid that my family will be mad at me when the time comes, aren't you? And..."

"And what?" Kingsley couldn't help but be carried away by her words.

"Kingsley, why do you always think the worst of yourself?" Charlotte sighed. "You always cast yourself as the bad guy, thinking everything about you is calculating, dirty, and despicable. But have you ever thought that you're actually gentler and cleaner than anyone else?"

This aspect of Kingsley always made her feel helpless and heartbroken. She wondered what kind of experiences had caused him to think this way, and her heart ached so much that she wanted to go back to her childhood and return to him to save him.

Charlotte said seriously, "In the future, believe in yourself more, okay? Be properly confident too, and believe in your place in my heart. You're always looking out for me, so how can I blame you?"

"Charlotte," Kingsley uttered after a long pause, his voice hoarse and his breathing heavy. He said slowly, "Thank you."

His voice was extremely soft, but Charlotte managed to hear it.

After dinner, Kingsley dropped Charlotte off at home.

Back in her bedroom, Charlotte's face eased slightly for a moment, but her brow still carried a slight heaviness.

Thinking about Kingsley's nervousness in the car when facing her questions and the possibility that he might have had something to do with what happened to Ben and Ben's family, Charlotte frowned and fell into deep thought.

She then picked up her cell phone and dialed Diana's number.

The phone was soon answered, but there was a noise on the other end of the line, and it sounded like several people were talking loudly.

Charlotte listened intently and raised her eyebrows slightly.

The people on the other end seemed to be speaking a foreign language.

She vaguely remembered that Diana's second concert was in Friech. Was Diana already preparing for another piano concert?

Charlotte was wondering when the murmur of voices gradually drifted away and finally disappeared. In their place was Diana's slightly flustered voice. "Hello, Charlotte?"

"Diana, what's going on?" Charlotte asked, a little confused.

"Nothing, just met some rather enthusiastic people." Diana seemed to exhale softly and then asked, "Charlotte, what's up? Do you need my help with something?"

Hearing this warm and gentle question from Diana, Charlotte felt her face blush slightly. It seemed she often caused trouble and then came to Diana for help, so Diana's first reaction was always to ask if she needed something.

"Ahem, Diana, I was just calling to check on you," Charlotte said sheepishly. "Are you in Friech now?"

"How did you know?" Diana said in surprise, then sounded a little strange. "I'm staying over at Frank's."

"Frank?" said Charlotte, her eyes lighting up with a gossipy look. "You're at his place? So those voices earlier were his family talking?"

"Uh-huh," Diana said. "It's a good thing you called when you did, or I wouldn't have known what to do. His family is just so overzealous." She sounded slightly uncomfortable with the situation.

Charlotte couldn't help but laugh out loud.

She hadn't expected Frank to introduce Diana to his family so directly. Charlotte could see how Frank looked at Diana very clearly. Diana, however, was simple-minded and focused on her career, so she hadn't thought much about it.

It seemed there might soon be good news about Diana and Frank. Charlotte couldn't help but laugh out loud, genuinely happy for Diana.

"Charlotte, what are you laughing at?" Diana raised an eyebrow.

Charlotte quickly replied, "Nothing! Take me to say hello to my future brother-in-law."

"Future brother-in-law? What are you talking about?" Diana found it odd but didn't dwell on it. Instead, she asked, "Tell me honestly, what did you want to see me about?"

"Hey, I can never hide anything from you," Charlotte said. "Remember that you said you would help me find a psychiatrist? Now I also want to ask what kind of information you found when you were checking out Kingsley."

Originally, she hadn't intended to pry into Kingsley's privacy, but during her time with him, Charlotte noticed Kingsley's emotional instability. He often fell into extremes, doubted himself, and had many negative thoughts.

She wanted to help him change that mindset and thought starting at the root cause would be best.

"Regarding the psychiatrist, I'm still negotiating, so it might take a bit longer. As for Kingsley's past, it's quite deep. None of us have been able to find out much. The Livingston family isn't small, and it's hard to uncover what they're trying to hide."

"Ah, I see." Charlotte felt a little dejected, her shoulders slumping.

"However, do you remember when we talked about how the Livingston family seemed to have had a significant event a few years ago? We don't know the details," Diana said in a hushed voice, "but I guess Kingsley's issues might be linked to that incident. His family situation is very complicated. So, I have some reservations. I'm not in favor of you getting involved with him."

"Diana, don't say that." Charlotte found it hard to blame Diana but forced herself to pout. "Don't worry. I believe Kingsley can handle everything, including his illness. Trust my judgment, okay?"

Listening to her heartfelt words, Diana finally relented, sighing. "I won't stop you from going your own way. Just know that if you ever get tired, you can always come back. I will always be here, and our family will always support you."

"Okay!" Charlotte felt revitalized, her tone sweet and lively. "You're the best sister in the whole world!"
