Revenge with My Quadruplets

Chapter 145

Chapter 145

On this day, Charlotte vaguely overheard the crowd murmuring during intermission after rehearsal at the drama club.

"Is that true?"

"Rumor has it that he got his arms and legs broken. It's tragic. Even his house had a big fire, and all his family members except him were buried in that fire."

"Geez! Don't the police care? Who is so powerful that they can do such a thing to him?"

"That goes without saying. Remember Zelda, who offended Charlotte before? I heard she broke her leg, and it's still not healed!"

"It's horrible. I didn't realize that she looks so soft and harmless, so easy to get along with, but whoever gets close to her has bad luck!"

"Hey! What are you all babbling about? Shut up!" Sherry's face reddened with anger as she spoke.

Zelda and Ben, both of whom were in the drama club and with whom she had had conflicts, now all occurred accident.

Charlotte couldn't help but wonder if this had anything to do with her.

For example, what if it was that Kingsley was trying to protect her, so he...

Charlotte's heart sank.

Did he do these things?

This version of Kingsley seemed very different from the one she knew.

It reminded her of what Diana had said before: his emotions were hard to restrain, and extreme thoughts could occur in his mind.

So, was that why Kingsley sometimes overthinks and lacks confidence?

Charlotte was still young, but having grown up in a top mansion, received a good education, and having a broad perspective, she could quickly piece together the situation from these subtle details.

She realized she was being selfish. After guessing that Zelda and Ben's encounters were related to Kingsley, her first reaction was not to feel sorry for them but to worry about Kingsley's well-being.

Would someone like him really want to resort to such measures?

And such extreme actions would worsen his condition, plunging him into mental torment and apprehension in front of those he cared about. The more pressure he endures, the worse his mental state will become.

In the long run, he would definitely not be able to handle it.

Charlotte was so worried that she couldn't help but dial her sister Diana.

Charlotte chatted with Diana for a while, sharing all her guesses and thoughts. Diana was silent for a long time before saying, "Charlotte, you are very perceptive. Your guesses are not wrong."

"Diana..." Charlotte said, slightly surprised. "You..."

"Yes, we've been keeping an eye on Kingsley," Diana interrupted. "After all, as the most highly regarded youngest daughter of the Scott family, you chose him. As your family, although I support you, I can't help but feel uneasy. After prying some information from Aaron, I immediately followed up on the Mendel family's situation. The result was exactly what I expected. Kingsley seems to be involved, but I'm not sure if he orchestrated the Mendel family's fire."

Charlotte was silent when she heard this.

The meaning of Diana's words was clear to her. If Kingsley had arranged the Mendel family fire, how could Charlotte face such a dangerous and cruel man?

"Charlotte, he may be even more ruthless and paranoid than you think. I didn't know how to talk to you about this, but now that you've found out on your own, I can't keep it to myself any longer."

"Diana, I don't care how he is. I will face it with him," Charlotte said firmly.

"You!" Diana was furious, then she paused and said calmly, "I'm not going to force you to break up with Kingsley right now, but I want you to think it over carefully before you come back and tell me your decision."

With that, Diana hung up the phone.

Charlotte's eyes glazed over as she listened to the mechanical voice coming from her cell phone. This was the first time Diana was really angry with her, and the first time the two sisters had been unhappy in so many years.

It was hard for her, but she would never regret it. Charlotte bit her lip, and the color of determination surfaced in her eyes.

After hanging up the phone, Diana frowned, seemingly a little lost in thought.

"Diana, what are you thinking?" Frank asked with concern, his handsome face showing a bit of curiosity.

"I'm wondering if Kingsley planned all of this," Diana frowned. "You know what? His mind is unfathomable. Every step he takes is extraordinarily precise and dangerous, like a tightrope walker. Is such a person really suitable for Charlotte? Am I making a mistake?"

Diana looked bewildered, even with a touch of self-doubt.

“Don't think like that,” Frank soothed her. "You're supporting your sister in her quest for freedom and happiness, and you're not wrong. And Kingsley... He's not wrong either. Besides, it's not certain that Kingsley arranged for the Mendel family fire, is it?"

"Is it?" Diana looked up at him with a hint of uncertainty in her features.

"It's true, you believe me." Frank looked her in the eyes and said seriously, "Going to great lengths for the sake of someone he loves is part of a man's nature. He might strategize and control everyone around him, but he won't hurt the one he loves."

"All his efforts are just to get closer to her. That's not danger, that's deep love and obsession."

When Frank said these words, he shed his usual gentle demeanor. His eyes held a bit of toughness and seriousness, causing Diana to avoid his gaze, not daring to meet his eyes.

Even as she lowered her eyes, Frank's sincere, burning gaze seemed imprinted in her mind. Each time she glanced at him, a blazing fire burned in her heart, and her heartbeat quickened.

This was the first time she realized something had changed about her familiar Frank.

She had to raise her head to see his complexion clearly. He had grown taller, matured from a gentle little boy into a man with his own assertiveness.

Diana felt inexplicably flustered. She couldn't help but back away a little, wanting to escape the intensity of his aura.

Frank seemed to notice her panic and retreat. A trace of helplessness surfaced in his azure eyes. Smiling, he shook his head and secretly chided himself for being too hasty.

"Diana, I think you should have faith in Charlotte and trust your sister's judgment. The person she likes is definitely not a great evil. Besides, I'm sure Kingsley didn't start that fire."

"Why?" Diana asked.

"Man's intuition," Frank joked.

"So, Diana, don't worry." Frank collected himself and became gentle and gentlemanly again. "I think your sister will be very happy in the future because it's her choice. She and Kingsley are both giving and moving forward together."
