Revenge with My Quadruplets

Chapter 84

Chapter 84

Unlike the warmth in the Scott's, the atmosphere in the Hopkinson's was thick with tension.

The servants had been kicked out, and the hall was a mess. The floor was covered with shards, and there were signs of violence everywhere.

"You good-for-nothings!" Ash puffed for breath. He had been indulging himself all these years. So he could barely stand still after venting his anger.

Laura's well-preserved face became haggard. Her face mirrored the quality of her life. Now she looked older than her age.

"We haven't lost yet. I don't think that we can't take charge of the Hopkinson Group without the Scott Group. After all these years, the shareholders are in our control. Plus, we've got the will. How's anyone gonna compete with us?"

Laura was the first to pull herself together, and her words stopped Ash and Rose from feeling down.

"Bennett could make the Hopkinson Group better, so can I." Ash always considered himself better than Bennett. It was because of their father's partiality that Bennett got to inherit the family business.

So, when Ash was with Laura, he not only felt love but also had an illusion that he was better than Bennett. It was so thrilling that he felt surreal.

Laura was the bridge between Ash and Rose. Ash always thought he controlled the Hopkinson Group, but he was, in fact, manipulated by Laura. She was the real mastermind.

In the following days, Ash publicly announced that Rose and Derek broke up on good terms because of their differences in personalities. And as Derek demanded, he admitted that the two kids' mother was someone else. Everything that happened before was a misunderstanding.

The media were shocked by the announcement. Recently, netizens had seen nothing but news related to this.

Many of the Hopkinson Group's stalled projects were dug up. So the company's share price plummeted in an unstoppable trend. People who bought their shares kept cursing and selling them off.

Taking advantage of the chance, Emily told Andrew to keep buying stock. Soon, Emily got a lot of retail shares at a very low price. Though they weren't much, she'd be qualified to attend a shareholders' meeting.

Andrew had returned from his "business trip". And he and Emily had already checked the surveillance video in the RAM.

"Shit! How dare these two bitches did that!" Andrew couldn't help cursing, ignoring his image as an elite.

Emily's mind was in turmoil. Although she had guessed it, seeing the truth with her own eyes still shocked her.

"Isn't that what we expected? They thought their scheme was copper-bottomed, but we found evidence anyway."

"What should we do next?" Andrew looked at Emily.

Emily looked at the TV, where Ash and Laura were holding a press conference. To calm the shareholders and stabilize the stock price, they announced the Hopkinson Group's new project.

"Sometimes, it'll be more of a suffering to give someone a blow when they think they see a silver lining, doesn't it? Hope is right in front of their eyes, but they will never be able to get it."

Soon, a shareholders' meeting was held in the Hopkinson Group. Ash and Laura needed to give an explanation to all the shareholders.

"Since everyone is here, let's begin," Ash said, extending his hand to invite Laura forward. She was Bennett's widow, so it'd be easier for the shareholders to sympathize with her.

Ash and Laura had rehearsed many times for the meeting. In the end, they concluded that taking advantage of the shareholders' sympathy would be the easiest way to win them over. After all, every American loved to hear stories.

"I get that you all have a lot of questions and doubts. If I were you, I'd be wondering the same thing."

Laura started by using empathy to bring her closer to the shareholders.

Everything went on as planned.

When she was about to continue, the door was pushed open.

"I'm sorry, but these two claimed they were shareholders too. So I couldn't stop them," Laura's assistant explained apologetically.

The two who came in were Emily and Derek.

They met downstairs. Emily was surprised, too. She had been wondering who was buying shares as she did. She didn't expect it'd be Derek.

Derek walked behind Emily as if he were a knight guarding his princess.

He ignored the astonished crowd and walked straight to the desk, pulling out a chair for Emily. She glanced at him before sitting down, and he took a seat next to her.

"You may leave," Laura said to her assistant.

The door was closed, so no one could hear the conversation in the room.

"You are here to look for trouble!" Rose couldn't help but criticize Emily.

Laura did not stop Rose, as she needed to get more information with her help.

"Put your hands down. I'm a shareholder now. The group's share price has dropped. So it made perfect sense for me to attend the shareholders' meeting and listen to your explanations, regardless of my other identities."

Emily said the annoying words with calm, and Rose's face turned red with anger.

Ash felt embarrassed and scolded Rose.

"Is that the best you can do?" Emily muttered. Hearing that, Rose almost pounced at her out of anger.

Derek glanced at Emily and hinted for her to tone it down a bit. Then, with a smile on his lips, he said, "Go on."

The episode pretty much ruined the atmosphere Laura had built. She wore a forced smile, unable to immerse herself in the show in front of Emily and Derek.

"Your speech is over?" Emily casually spoke. "Then it's my turn."

She clapped her hands, and Andrew handed out a copy of the documents to each shareholder.

"What's this?"

"Geez! This is horrible."

The shareholders were discussing with each other, and Laura and Ash had a bad feeling.

Laura and Ash were the last to get the copied documents.

When they saw the contents, Ash stood up and tore the document to pieces.

"This is slander! I'm gonna sue you!"

"Easy, easy. I printed many copies. I'll give you a box of documents if you enjoy tearing things up."

As soon as Emily finished speaking, Andrew came to her with a box of copies.

Ash rushed over and knocked over the box. Then he crazily snatched the documents from other shareholders' hands.

Emily laughed and said, "Look how pathetic you are. How come someone like you thinks you're stronger than Bennett?"

Ash glared at her fiercely.

Before he knew it, the document was projected onto the screen. He wanted to smash the machine, but he got pinned to the desk by the bodyguards Derek had brought.

"You used the company's money to invest in your own shell company. Then you claimed that the project failed, thus turning the money into your own." Emily paused. "Come on. These are all the shareholders' dividends."

After Emily finished speaking, another document appeared on the screen.

"Poor you, Ash. It seems that Laura isn't completely honest with you."

Ash was held down by the bodyguard and was forced to look at the words projected on the screen. Eyes bloodshot, he shouted, "Laura, what's this? Tell me!"

"What do you think? She has been stealing from the company in your name. If she gets caught, you'll be the first person to blame," Emily said disapprovingly. Her words almost crushed Ash.

The bodyguards let go of him. He lunged at Laura and grabbed her by the neck.

"You bitch! Damn you! How dare you do this to me!"

Derek waited for them to fight for a while before he asked the bodyguards to separate them.

The show had just started. He wouldn't allow anything to happen to the cast.

"What's so surprising about that? Ash, she dared to cheat on Bennett. What makes you think that she won't do the same to you?" Emily's face was cold.

"I have called the police already. None of you is gonna get away with it."

Laura didn't expect Emily to be so awesome. "Even if Ash and I are investigated, you won't get the company. Bennett has cut ties with you. The company still belongs to Rose."

"Is that so? I didn't expect you to be so naïve."

With that, the document displayed on the screen changed again.

"This is a paternity test."

Laura's expression changed dramatically. She murmured, "Stop looking!"

"Guess who this paternity test is about, Rose?" Emily's icy stare made Rose uneasy.

Rose did have some suspicions about it, but she wanted to delude herself. She kept telling herself that she was Bennett's daughter, not the illegitimate child born to Laura and Ash.

"Rose, listen. It's not what you think." Laura gripped Rose's hand, but Rose fixed her eyes on the document.

When the shareholders saw the test results, they couldn't help but exclaim in surprise.

They thought, 'We are just poor shareholders who have been ripped off. Why are we forced to be the witnesses of a family feud? We don't want to get ourselves in trouble.'

Unfortunately, this was just the beginning. Everything that followed would shock them even more.

Emily's hands trembled slightly, and Derek took them in his.

Surprisingly, Emily calmed down because of it.

"Lawyer! I need a lawyer!" Ash shouted frantically.

"There's no need to rush. You can hire as many lawyers as you want after you read all the documents, "Emily sneered.

At this point, what was displayed on the screen had become a video clip. It showed Laura and Ash having an affair in Bennett's office, and Bennett even said that it was thrilling.

The shareholders looked at Ash with contempt. He was mad that Laura for using him, and he hated Emily for humiliating him. He didn't blame himself for doing those things but blamed the person who exposed him.

Laura stroked her hair and sat down. "So what if you have proof? Even if the judge finds me guilty and sends me to prison, when I get out, I won't suffer any loss."

Emily raised a brow and thought, 'Laura is harder to deal with than Ash. She's the one who dominates their relationship.'

"If you are charged with economic crimes, you may not lose anything. But what if you are charged with homicide?"

"What are you talking about? I don't get it." Laura tried her best to stay calm. She didn't think Emily could find out about her crime.

"I'm talking about how you switched Bennett's meds and murdered him in collusion with the private hospital's director!"

Though Emily spoke slowly word by word, the crowd felt it hard to understand.

They thought, 'Didn't Bennett die of illness?'

Terrified, they wanted to leave the room. But when they saw Derek's bodyguards, they dropped the idea. They were so scared that they couldn't help sweating.

"You'll see the witnesses and evidence on the day of the trial." Emily stood up and checked the time.

Just then, Laura's assistant pushed open the door and walked in.

"I'm so sorry. These cops are looking for Ash and Laura." Laura's assistant looked frightened. He felt that he was about to lose his job.

Derek signaled for the bodyguards to release Ash. After verifying the identities, the cops politely asked Ash and Laura to go to the police station for an investigation.

After knowing the final verdict, Emily felt relieved.

Laura, Ash, and Rose were once her nightmares. Now, she had defeated them.

She retrieved everything that belonged to her. Everything now seemed as it should've been.

Unfortunately, Bennett wouldn't know about it or come back to life.

"Bennett, I did it. I wish you were here with me."

Emily just came back from visiting Bennett at the cemetery. She now lived at the Scott's with Derek and their four kids. And she had been used to a life like that.

Strangely, the usually brightly lit villa was pitch black at the moment. Emily felt a bit worried.

She carefully pushed open the door and unlocked her phone, ready to call the police at any time.

Suddenly, the lights came on. Derek got down on one knee, a ring in his hand.

"Emily, will you marry me?" Derek's eyes were filled with joy and expectation.

Emily covered her mouth in shock. She had been waiting for this moment all along.

She thought, 'Bennett, look! I found happiness after all!'
