Chapter 65
Chapter 65
Meanwhile, Derek gave himself a rare day off, so he took the initiative to ask Nick and Terry to play tennis with him.
"Terry, I'm here." Nick waved his hand happily. It was not easy to make Derek put aside his work.
Terry was not as happy as Nick. Nick had just sent the video to Derek yesterday afternoon, and Derek asked them out today. Terry felt uneasy.
Nick placed his hand on Terry's shoulder and asked, "Do you think Derek found that his charm was not working, so he wanted to interact more with me?"
"Stay away from me. I don't want to be affected by you," Terry said in disgust and pushed Nick's hand away.
When they arrived at the tennis court, Derek had already finished warming up.
Terry did not know if he was hallucinating. He felt that Derek was full of fighting spirit. Terry felt he must be right. He decided to break off relations with Nick today and resume their friendship tomorrow.
Nick did not know about Terry's thoughts. After greeting Derek, Nick began to warm up.
"Terry, why aren't you warming up?" Nick asked Terry curiously as he exercised.
"I think today is your show time. I am only here to be a spectator," Terry said as he ran to the side and sat down.
"Don't you think that Derek is very strange today?" Nick asked as he ran over to Terry.
Terry pricked up his ears. Was Nick finally getting smarter?
"He smiled at me today. Derek had rarely smiled before, right? Don't you think it's weird?" Nick asked as he crossed his arms and shivered.
Terry didn't expect Nick, who had always been insensitive, to be so sharp. Terry wondered if simple people had strong intuitions.
"You've seen him smile many times since we were young. What are you afraid of?" Terry said, thinking, 'Don't blame me. We will still be good friends tomorrow.'
Nick was fooled by Terry into coming to the tennis court.
Derek gave Terry a look of approval, and Terry somehow felt proud of it.
The game started.
Derek was very strong. After catching the ball a few times, Nick felt a faint pain in his wrists and arms.
The more Derek played, the fiercer he became. Nick could not help but complain, "Derek, what happened to you? Are you mad or something?"
"Don't stop." Derek looked cold and did not stop. He had been brooding over the video since yesterday. He wanted to prove that he was stronger than Nick. Nick couldn't leave the tennis court so easily today.
An hour later, Nick felt that something was wrong. At that moment, he was sweating all over. His thick hair was stuck to his head. His sweat drenched his clothes. He was now as pitiful as a drowning dog. He looked at Terry for help, yet Terry silently looked away.
"Stop! I need a break." Nick said while trying to catch up with his breath. He felt his legs limply.
After he finished speaking, he lay down on the ground. He was too tired to get up.
That cold-hearted Terry avoided him. Nick had already beaten Terry several times in his mind.
At this time, a shadow covered Nick's head. He opened his eyes and saw Derek's head above him.
"You bastard, did I cross you?" Nick cursed angrily. He felt aggrieved.
Derek pursed his lips. He also felt a little angry.
"The video." He gave Nick an explanation.
"What video? How did I..." Nick suddenly realized what Derek was referring to.
Nick was so furious that he suddenly regained his strength. He sat up and pointed at Derek. "We have been good friends for so many years, and you treat me like this just because of a video?" He sounded aggrieved. They had known each other for twenty years. Was their friendship so fragile?
Derek felt that he was in the wrong. He did not speak. He just touched his nose. He was no longer angry after he played tennis for half an hour. The video had been edited, and he wasn't sure under what kind of circumstances did Emily say those words.
Another point was that the video was first sent to Nick, not Derek, which meant that they targeted Nick.
Derek should have thought of it a long time ago, but he was too mad at that time, so he was blinded. However, the game just now made the depression in his heart dissipate.
When Terry saw that they were fine, he came over. Terry gave his hand to Nick, offering to pull him up.
Nick's gaze moved from Terry's hand to his face. Nick still remembered that Terry had just ignored him. Nick slapped Terry's hand and turned his head away. "Go away. I don't need that."
Terry looked at Derek, and a smile flashed across Derek's eyes.
"Get up." Derek stretched out his hand.
Nick glared at Derek before reaching out his hand.
"Why do I deserve this? I was retaliated against by Derek and ignored by my friend," Nick wailed.
Terry comforted Nick for a while, and then Nick forgave him.
As the two of them followed behind nosily, Derek suddenly turned to Nick and said, "Sorry, Nick."
This time, Derek was impulsive. When he encountered something related to Emily, he was not like himself. Yet Nick had become a punching bag. Although Derek still cared about the words in the video, he admitted he was wrong.
After hearing Derek's words, Nick felt embarrassed.
Derek was the most outstanding one among his peers. Nick was very happy that he had such a friend. Nick did not need to inherit the family business, so he did not have much pressure. He could simply enjoy himself as long as he wouldn't cause trouble for the family. They did not expect much from Nice, but because of his relationship with Derek, Nick was well respected in his family, and Nick had always been grateful to Derek.
Although he did not say it, Nick admired Derek. He had never seen Derek make a mistake. Derek suddenly apologized to him, which was much more shocking than what had just happened.
Terry was also shocked.
Derek suddenly reflected on what he had done, thinking about whether he had treated them too poorly. In fact, he had been very lonely since his childhood. With these two good friends, Derek's life had become more fun. Other than his family, Terry and Nick were the people Derek cared about the most, but now Emily was also important to Derek.
Terry pulled Nick's arm and asked Nick to say something.
"It doesn't matter. I forgive you. We are good friends!" Nick quickly returned to normal. He saw Derek's expression and felt Derek's guilt. Nick suddenly realized that the indifferent Derek just did not know how to express his feelings.
Terry also smiled, when he saw Nick's bright smile and Derek's gentle expression.
Derek hugged Nick. This time, Derek did not care about the smell of sweat on Nick's body. Then Derek hugged Terry. Their shadows were long in the sunlight.
