Angelina’s POV

I was gawking at the sexy, heart throbbing beauty that is Lucas Snow as he sang heartily to one of the songs.

Dammit! Even his voice is amazing.

I’m not sure he was aware of me staring at him with my mouth a little too open for my own good. And thank god he didn’t, because that would be embarrassing, him catching me checking him out like this with that dazzled look on my face.

He would have never let me live it down.

He was completely taken by the song he was into, trapped in his own world.

I find myself liking that version of him. He looked so young and without a care in the world. He wasn’t a psychopath, a killer, a crazy, annoying, smug….who am I kidding? I fell for him in all his freaking conditions!

He exasperated me to no end, but he also awoken feelings in me I never thought I’d be able to feel, let alone feel so damn fast after all that trauma I’ve been through.

The song ended and I was quick to wipe off any trace of my obsessive admiration of him and look ahead at the windshield before he catches me.

I still haven’t made up my mind about him yet.

Something was holding me back. I tried to figure out what it was but couldn’t put my finger on it yet.

We arrived to Fairbanks at around one thirty in the afternoon. Lucas parked the car in the garage of the hotel and we both walked towards the lobby.

I didn’t put up any more fights with him on this. It was useless to argue when I had no alternative plan in motion yet.

The receptionist greeted him a little too enthusiastically for my liking, it looked a little suspicious. She was also checking me out when she wasn’t eye fucking the hell out of him. I gazed at his face to see any indication of her shameless flirtation with him, but he looked pretty composed and unaffected in the slightest.

I mean, she was eye catching to be honest. With that silky, straight, long, light blond hair, and those big hazel eyes, don’t even get me started on her big rack that was screaming look at me.

“Let me know if you need anything…. At all, Mr. Snow” she said in a flirting tone that had me gagging on the inside as she handed him the room key card.

He took it without saying anything back to her and started walking towards the elevators.

Ok, so maybe I didn’t look in my best condition right now, with my curly hair probably going in every which direction and my tired face, but I wasn’t exactly invisible, was I? I mean can’t she clearly see that he wasn’t alone?

Yet she openly just told him to ask her if he needed anything ‘at all’.

I found myself against my better judgement; but who am I kidding? I wasn’t exactly making any rational, sane decisions lately to have a better judgement in the first place, taking Lucas’s place right in front of her and giving her my most stern look.

“Can I help you?” she asked in a guarded expression.

“Oh good, you can see me, for a second there I thought you couldn’t” I said sarcastically before giving her another glare to get my message through.

She gulped visibly and looked nervously between me and Lucas’s direction by the elevators.

I considered my message delivered loud and clear as I gave her my back and went after Lucas who was holding back the door for me.

We got inside, just the two of us, while he pressed the last button which was the 30th floor.

When the sliding doors closed he asked curiously “What were you saying to the woman at the reception?” he asked curiously.

“Just asking her about her lip gloss brand” I shrugged nonchalantly.

“Not sure she was wearing any” he said casually.

I glared at him “Oh how very observant of you. You seem to know her” I said stiffly.

“Well, it’s not the first time I’ve stayed here, Angel” he said softly.

I raise my eyebrows and speculate “You slept with her!”

He gave me a baffled look and said in astonishment “What? No! What made you say that?”

“Jeez, I don’t know! Maybe because she was eye fucking you the entire time? And let’s not forget the…” I mimicked her disturbing ‘flirting’ tone “Let me know if you need anything…at all Mr. Snow”

He chuckled at me and it just made my blood boil even hotter as I gave him a death glare.

“Ok, now I get it. You’re jealous” he said in amusement.

“Me jealous? Of who, her? Please!” I scoffed dramatically.

Ok I was. I so was and it was the most ridiculous thing because he wasn’t even mine to be so possessive over him all of a sudden, but dammit I am.

He gave me a knowing look and said gently “I didn’t sleep with her, Angel. But I’m not denying my promiscuous history with women. She might have seen me with a girl or two here in the past, so she probably thought she could join in or something”

I hit him hard on the chest as I snapped at him “You brought me to the same place you have sex with your whores! You assh….”

He held my wrists as I was about to pound on his chest again and pinned them above me against the elevator wall while trapping me in place with his body.

His touch and proximity sent shivers down my spine and gave me goosebumps.

Our faces were inches away from each other, he said huskily “I said history Angel, as in the past. You can’t judge me on that, I live in a small town most days, I can’t exactly have no strings attached sex with one of the town girls without bringing hell to our doorstep. So yeah, whenever I came here or had some free time, I would bring a girl over. A man like me has needs, Angel. I told you I’m no saint. And on any other day, that sexy receptionist you’re so jealous of, would have been under me, moaning and screaming ‘Mr. Snow’ at the top of her lungs. But I barely paid her any attention now if you haven’t noticed. Not because I already have a girl with me, but because the angel that is with me holds the strings to my heart and the key to my soul. I cannot see any other girl but you anymore, Angel. Only you”

My heart was beating erratically at those words.

I looked deep into his eyes at the depth in them, the faithfulness radiating from that penetrating gaze.

It still bothered me. How much he has had sex before. While I was a complete white, blank page. No experience. No knowledge. Not even a single kiss before him.

A complete virgin in every sense of the word. How the hell can I compete with his past?

What drew him to me in the first place? I was clearly not his usual type of girl.

Yet, he said I hold the strings to his heart and the key to his soul, and damn if that didn’t make me so fucking satisfied to hear, to see the effect I have on him with my own eyes.

“Why? Why me, Lucas?” I found myself asking him desperately.
