On The Border - Marry Him Or Die

Lucas’s POV

I called Mathew when I was two minutes close to home to open the iron gate for me to pass through it.

Before I left, I asked the three guys standing guards outside to go to the border and stay there to participate in taking down Zade and his men in a few hours. It was an excuse to make them leave so they don’t see Alex and Jenny stepping out of the trunk.

I parked the car outside the house and got out, opening the trunk and letting them out.

Mathew came running after closing the gate and hugged Alex emotionally, he smiled at Jenny and nodded his head at her respectfully.

“Hope my brother didn’t drive you too crazy for the past month and a half” said Alex sarcastically.

“He had his moments but it was all under control” he said with a wide smile.

I rolled my eyes at that, right!

We walked ahead to the front door and just as we reached it, Sara opened the door with a wide grin on her face.

We hurried inside into the warm house as they hugged Sara, then we entered the living room together.

April threw herself at Jenny instantly while mom sobbed as she took Alex into a tight hug.

“I’m so glad you both made it back home in one piece. You have no idea how much I have been missing you both, Alex. I was constantly worried about you” said mom in a muffled voice.

Alex hastily wiped his tears before holding her head away from his chest so he could look at her, cupping her face gently and printing a long kiss on her forehead.

“I missed you so much mom, words cannot express just how much” he said thickly.

She cupped his face back and kissed him on both cheeks, her face radiant with blissful happiness at their safe return.

They exchanged partners as Alex hugged April to his chest tightly and kissed the top of her head longingly, while mom embraced Jenny snuggly and kissed her cheeks too.

Everyone was a crying mess and I found my own eyes watering from the intense reunion.

Finally the women stepped aside and allowed David who was hanging back like me to welcome Alex and Jenny home as well.

We all sat down on the couches and started questioning them about their trip and everything it involved.

Sara came after a while to tell us that breakfast is ready.

“Can we delay breakfast for half an hour? I’d like to meet Angelina first and try to get her to come have breakfast with us” said Jenny to mom softly.

“Oh Jenny, please try to convince her not to leave right away. I know she’s mad at us but I really care for her, I don’t want her to put herself in any danger because of what we did” pleaded mom with Jenny with tears in her eyes as she held Jenny’s hands firmly.

“I’ll try my best Diana” she smiled at her sweetly before kissing her cheek and heading upstairs.

I had to resist really hard not to go up there and eavesdrop on their conversation. That is if Angel agrees to talk to her or let her inside in the first place.

Angelina’s POV

I woke up with a stiff, aching body all over.

Of course sleeping in a sitting position on the hard floor would do that, but I didn’t have much of a choice.

I didn’t want to see or hear anyone.

Now I had no choice but to get my stiff ass off the floor and leave the door unguarded. First because I had to pee really badly. Two, I need a hot shower to sooth my painful, aching body. God only knows when I’m going to have a decent shower again after I leave this place today.

I went into the shower, relaxed a bit, then got out if it, dried myself and got dressed in a dark blue skinny jeans and a long sleeve, wool, light blue sweater. I used the diffuser to dry my hair then decided to get out of the bathroom and wait for the clock to strike close to ten so I can leave this place behind me for good.

My broken heart was still very much broken, but I tried not to let that affect me, at least today. I can let loose as soon as I’m alone somewhere where no one can try to tell me how much they really trust me but not enough to confide in me (eyes rolling).

I opened the bathroom door and stepped out of it only to stop in my tracks with a loud, surprised gasp.

There was a girl standing against the wall adjacent to my room door.

A girl with a short height, a tiny figure, coppery red, short, wavy hair, beautiful green eyes and black framed glasses.

She must be Jenny. I never saw her picture before but it had to be her.

She was a very gorgeous girl.

“Hi! Sorry I didn’t mean to scare you. I knocked but when you didn’t answer I let myself in. Then I heard your shower on so I decided to wait for you to finish. I’m Jenny by the way” she said sweetly with a genuine smile on her lips.

I didn’t know why she was here. She seemed nice with a kind appearance that I didn’t even stop to consider the possibility that she was here to blame the daughter of the person who nearly got her and her husband killed. But then what did she want?

I swallowed and said carefully “I’m glad you made it home safe. Everyone must be so thrilled to have you guys back”

There was no need to introduce myself. I was sure she knew everything about me.

“Thanks. I’m so happy to be back home here. Which is pretty ironic, considering I used to call this town a cursed place on this earth not so long ago” she said humorously.

“Why?” I asked in curiosity.

“Because I had a pretty crappy home and an even crappier childhood, add in the forced marriage by my sick uncle who beat me half to death to make me marry Alex, yeah that pretty much sums up all the reasons why I used to hate this town. But that’s all in the past now” she said lightly. A little too lightly for the heavy words she just dropped on me.

I looked at her with wide eyes and couldn’t utter a word from the things she said about her life here, which caused her to chuckle “I’m sorry I didn’t mean to tell you my depressing life story that way. I’m here to talk about you actually”

“What….about me?” I asked hesitantly.

“Can we set down on the bed?” she asked calmly.

I nodded my head and we both settled down at the foot of the bed.

“Lucas told me what happened last night. I get your anger and pain, Angelina. Believe me, I really get it, maybe more than anyone else in this house. Because not long ago, I was almost in the same place you are in right now” she said softly.

My eyebrows furrowed “What do you mean?” I asked in confusion.

“Well, I was forced to marry Alex against my well. I didn’t know anything about him or his family as I never interacted with them before that. But I had some idea of what I was walking into. Town people tend to talk a lot, small town and all. And with the idea I had of them in my head, I was certain that I was coming here to live in my own personal hell. I was dead scared, angry as hell for being forced, and most of all I hated Alex’s guts extremely for forcing me into this marriage when I already made plans to escape this place and start a new life for myself and my mom in Canada with our aunt who lives there, before he ruined everything and made me his wife. And frankly, Alex did not disappoint at all. He was exactly what I imagined him to be. A cold, sadistic asshole who struck fear in me to my core from the very first moment I stepped foot into that front yard after we returned from the church” she said firmly.

I stared at her with my mouth hanging open and a horrified look on my face.

What could she possibly say after that to convince me how she ended up being so happy with that man she was describing to me?
