Lucas’s POV

I rolled my window and addressed one of the guards firmly “I’m crossing over to meet someone important and coming back in two minutes. Keep your eyes and ears open alright? And don’t shoot my car when you see me coming back”

The guard nodded his head in understanding with a smile at my warning.

It took me about fifteen minutes over the Canadian territory to meet up where Alex was waiting for me by his SUV. Jenny was sitting cross legged against the hood of the car. She was a sight for sore eyes, both of them were. It felt like I haven’t seen them in months even though it was about a month and a half ago that we said goodbye to them.

I parked by the side of the road and got out quickly. They both walked over to me and I couldn’t help myself from launching myself at them and hugging them both very tightly.

My throat thickened as many emotions washed over me at the confirmation of their safe presence around me.

“Wow, you weren’t kidding about that bear hug” said Jenny in a muffled, breathless tone as I was nearly crushing her with my embrace.

I let go of them and took a long, hard look at them.

They were doing the same with a very broad smile on both their faces.

“I can’t believe you finally came back home. God I feel like I can finally breathe again” I said in evident relief.

Alex clapped me on the shoulder as he said happily with a sigh “I missed you too brother. And I missed this town so much. And you know what I missed the most? You, mom, April, David, Sara, Mathew and every God damn person in our town. It does feel like I am about to get my breath back into me”

“Oh come on! It couldn’t have been that bad, Alex. I bet you were living it up out there, having all the loud sex you can possibly have without worrying about anyone overhearing you two going at it. I bet you dolled out all of your kinks on Red over here and…” I said teasingly.

“Oh God! Here we go! You won’t be the Lucas I know if you don’t throw around those dirty comments of yours, let me tell you, I so did not miss that” groaned Jenny angrily with a little shove at my side while Alex just rolled his eyes at me and let his wife handle me.

“You missed them and you know it, Red” I winked at her.

What can I say? I couldn’t help it, it’s just out of my control to embarrass the hell out of my family.

And she was embarrassed all right as I saw the deep red color extend all over her face. Which also confirmed everything I was just hinting at.

Lucky sons of bitches.

“Are we all set for this?” asked Alex firmly.

“Extremely set, the guys in Toronto are all set too. We’re striking at the same time” I said confidently.

“All right, Let’s go home then” said Alex with a tight nod.

They went over to the wide trunk at the back of the SUV, opened it, climbed inside, and closed it back, hiding themselves inside it from everyone when I pass back through the border.

I drove back a little faster than usual, eager to get these two home to meet everyone who are dying to hug them too.

I stopped again by the border and ordered two of the men to drive fifteen minutes through the Canadian side and retrieve the SUV parked by the side of the road and drive it back to my house.

I yawned loudly as I drove through the mountain roads on my way back home.

“Looks like someone was too excited to see us, he didn’t sleep all night” teased Jenny from the trunk.

I chuckled dryly and said “Wish that was the case, but I couldn’t sleep for a whole other reason”

“What’s wrong?” asked Alex stiffly, going into alarm mode quickly.

“Angel overheard my conversation with you last night and found out you two were still alive and that we hid the truth from her. She flipped out and tore me a new one” I said bitterly.

“Why would she get mad at you? She should understand why everyone hid the truth from her. It’s not like she was forthcoming with her own secrets in the first place” said Alex firmly.

I heard him grunt which led me to believe that he received a jab from Jenny, but I was looking ahead at the road so I couldn’t really confirm it.

“Angel?” asked Jenny teasingly.

Shit! Did I just call her Angel?

I cleared my throat and tried to say nonchalantly “Her name is too damn long, I had to shorten it. And well, the nickname drives her crazy so, double score”

“Yeah I bet it does. What happened then?” said Jenny curiously.

“Everyone woke up from our screaming and got out to see what was happening. Mom tried to explain things to her but she wouldn’t listen to anyone, not that I really blame her. She locked herself in her room and never came out. I sat outside her door the whole night making sure she doesn’t do anything crazy” I explained.

“Well, she was right to be mad. I mean I would be hurt too if I was in her place” said Jenny sadly.

“That’s not the worst of it. I can handle her being angry at me or even hating me, but now she’s hell bent on leaving Snow as soon as we are done with Zade” I said tensely.

“So what? If she wants to go and disregard her own life it’s her own decision. Mom offered her a choice to stay and she didn’t want to. Why are you taking it so hard?” Wondered Alex.

Because I fucking have feelings for her and I’m possibly in love with her! Ok, not possibly, I do love her. At least I have to be man enough to admit it. I would never plead or beg just anyone for forgiveness, or bother to stand outside someone’s door all night, or eat myself up with regret if I didn’t love her.

I pursed my lips and remained silent.

“You care about her” guessed Jenny with excitement.

Again, My tongue was tied I couldn’t confirm nor deny anything out loud.

“Is it true?” asked Alex gently.

I sighed, tightening my hold on the steering wheel.

“Yes, I care about her ok? I care about her so fucking much, I’m not letting her take a God damn step out of this town” I said in frustration.

“Woah easy there Lucas. You don’t want to make matters worse with your craziness” said Jenny chastely.

“Well, I’m not letting her go anywhere, if that’s your ‘sane’ suggestion” I objected.

“Let me talk to her after we meet everyone. I’ll try to get her to change her mind” she said determinedly.

“And if she doesn’t?” I asked in a doubtful tone. I was ninety percent sure that nothing Jenny will say is going to change her mind about leaving today.

“We’ll cross that bridge when we get to it” she said simply.

Well, I think we’re so crossing it. Because my Angel is so fucking wounded by what I did, it’s not going to be that easy to get her forgiveness.

Crazy is the only thing I have planned that might work. And I’m going with it.
