Lucas’s POV

She was so taken by surprise regarding what I just said to her, that I felt like she stopped breathing altogether.

She was frozen in place, her chest not even moving, her eyes not even blinking as she kept her eyes fixed on me with a bewildered look.

I smiled at catching her so off guard, that I practically felt like I shot her dead right there as I revealed her stupid lie to me.

One thing was confirmed though. If I had any doubts that she knew who Andrew was in the slightest, I would have caught a flicker of recognition in her eyes when she looked at him. But she was staring at him like she was seeing a complete stranger to her.

She has no idea who that man is. But I was far from being done screwing with her.

She fucked up massively when she decided to roll a lie after lie to my face and now she was going to pay for everything.

I wasn’t backing down from her until I get the whole damn truth, I was willing to go to what ever extremities I had to to fucking get it.

Enough is enough. I’m done being the nice guy.

Time for plan B.

I tilted my head as I said sarcastically “Aren’t you going to yell at me for hurting him?”

She started trembling, her face becoming paler by the passing second, I thought she was going to faint from how terrified she was feeling right now.

But she managed to whisper “What are you talking about?”

I shook my head at her stubbornness.

“He told me everything, don’t bother playing that same game with me Angelina” I said cryptically.

God it was so good to finally get to call her by her real name. I’ve been dying to use it since I laid eyes on her for the very first time.

Her eyes widened slightly and she winced at the mention of her name but she remained annoyingly quiet.

And because I am immensely enjoying my mind-fuck game very much right now, I started playing it professionally as I dragged her by the sleeve of her jacket inside the room until she stood before the gagged man.

“Meet Ben Collins. Your father” I said in an introductory tone.

Her head whipped to me so fast and I saw the immense confusion claim her face, replacing all that fear I instilled within her a few seconds ago.

“What the hell are you talking about, Lucas?” she asked rigidly.

Her expression made me hit pause on the game and log in all that confusion.

She wasn’t confused at first when I just referred to him as her father, she was faking it, but as soon as I introduced him by name, her confusion became real.

What the hell does that mean?

It felt like we were both playing mind games with each other at the same damn time.

I studied her face without answering her, considering my next words carefully.

“Answer me!” she yelled at me.

Oh fuck it! Game back on!

“I recovered the phone that the two assholes had with them yesterday. It had your home address on it in Seattle. So I sent my men to check it out and imagine what I found” I said seriously.

Her breath hitched and she said in a barely audible whisper “My mom?”

I said gravely reacting to her pain against my will “There was no sign of her body. Only the pool of blood in the middle of your room”

She blinked back tears and stared at me more rigidly, waiting for me to reveal the rest of my findings.

“I got my hands on you real ID along with your mom’s….Hope” I said bitingly knowing full well how much that will sting.

She cast her eyes down instantly to hide her guilt and her pain at the mention of that name.

“You can imagine both my surprise and confusion when my little virgin prostitute turned out to be an eighteen years old freshman college student majoring in fashion design. Whose mom was killed on the same day she was kidnapped in. Who lied about her name. About her whole identity. Who doesn’t even recognize her own father. If it wasn’t for your birth certificate, I wouldn’t even know you had one considering your house had no indication of any man involved in your lives” I said strictly.

Her eyes turned towards the man who was close to unconsciousness, I doubt he was even able to hear what we were saying let alone warn her that I was baiting her, still I gagged him right before she got here so he wouldn’t mess up my little game.

Her eyes turned back to me with a wild angry look “So you tracked down my father and then what? Kidnapped him too? Brought him here and beat the shit out of him to get your God damn answers! You fucking asshole! You have no right to just beat up innocent people!”

“He’s hardly innocent though, is he?” I said menacingly, not fazed by her outburst at all.

That stopped her short and her confusion was back on.

She didn’t dare to utter any other word as not to trap herself further.

“He’s a gang leader back in Seattle. He’s the whole reason you’re in this mess right now. He has a beef with Zade and Zade being the asshole he is, used you and your mom to get to him” I informed her confidently.

She just looked at me without revealing anything as I could practically see through her, her wheels turning to grasp at the information I was throwing her way.

“But you knew that already. He told me you don’t know what he looks like because you’ve never been introduced but that you know everything about his life. Your mom was trying to keep his dangerous life from affecting you. What I really want to know is, why the hell didn’t you tell me any of this? Why all those stupid lies when you were the victim here Angelina? I may have acted like an evil man to those assholes yesterday and scared you shitless, but you didn’t see me raise a hand on you, did you? You didn’t see me touch you in anyway despite your stupid claim that you are a prostitute. What the hell was stopping you from telling me all of this?” I questioned her strictly.

She didn’t say anything despite my dangerous tone.

She kept sneaking looks at the man as her jaw ticked in nervousness.

She had two choices and it was clear as day which choice she was going to make even before she opened her mouth to answer me.

She thought I believed this stupid made up story and I made her think that I did, just like the first one about her being a prostitute.

The fact is, I didn’t know what the hell to believe anymore.

There was more than one possible explanation to this whole thing. If I want to think clearly, I had to consider both options and analyze the probability of their truthfulness:

1. This whole story is a bunch of lies and bullshit to get me to hand her over and save her from under my grasp to get her to Zade safely. And her true identity still remains to be a mystery.

2. Her whole story checks out, except the real Ben Collins was still hiding somewhere out there and Zade was still hell bent on finding him that he sent me an imposter to carry on his evil plan to use her to get to him. If that’s true, then Angelina has no idea that he’s not really her father. And if she decides to go with him thinking that she will be safe with him, she’s got a hell of a surprise awaiting her.

If her confusion was any indication, the whole gang leader bullshit story is made up on the spot and she was just as surprised to hear it as she was surprised yesterday when they told me she was a paid prostitute in front of her.

Of that I was fucking sure now.

But it was her life line. If she wanted to save herself from me and get to the safety of Zade, she will confirm the story and ask me to release them both and let them go on their merry way.

She looked at me determinedly as she said firmly “I told you, because I don’t trust you. I don’t owe you any explanation about my damn life, and I don’t feel the slightest amount of remorse for hiding my identity from you. Now that you forced the truth out of this man, and found out the answers you were seeking so hard to figure out, what do you intend to do with us?”

You don’t feel any amount of remorse my ass! You were feeling plenty of remorse in my mom’s arms a few hours ago Angelina, unless you’re one hell of an actress that is and you were lying to her then.

I leveled her with a stern look as I spoke coldly “You have two options. You can leave this place with your father and I will send one of my guys to take you both back to Fairbanks with your real ID that my men brought with them, or you can stay here until your fake ID arrives and go your separate ways if you want to honor your mother’s wish to stay away from that life and this man. I will give you cash to help you manage your new life, you don’t have to go with him If you don’t want to”

She didn’t pause for a second to consider as she said tightly “I’ll go with him. Release him and hand over my ID please”

I narrowed my eyes as I asked her curiously “What makes you so sure that this man is even your father. You don’t even know what he looks like. This could be a trap by Zade to kidnap you again”

“Does it matter to you? I’m willing to take my chances with him over you” she fired back.

Ouch, that fucking stung.

My guess was right though. She knows he’s Zade’s man and not her real father. Yet she’s willing to go with him.

She wants to go to Zade.

But if she wanted his damn safety, why did it seem like she was being taken against her will? And what’s with her murdered mother?

Was it all just another cover story to make her appear like the victim?

Or was she really being kidnapped for a whole other reason? And that reason was too dangerous to let me in on it that she had to keep lying to me? That she would rather hand herself over to Zade willingly rather than seek my help?

Fuck it! Just fucking fuck it!

I pulled out my gun and without breaking eye contact with her, I cocked it and shot Andrew straight in the head.
