On The Border - Marry Him Or Die

Alex’s POV

As soon as I said those words, I felt like my heart was exploding inside my chest, like my lungs stopped functioning, and my tongue felt numb and very heavy inside my mouth.

Tears sprang to my eyes and I had to do everything in my power not to scream at the top of my lungs and take back every fucking word I just said. Not to vow to skin that man alive for daring to attempt and touch what was mine, for even looking at her so dirtily, for merely saying her name with his fucking mouth.

I was shaking with rage, delirious with vengeance, seeing red and no other color.

It was the first time I ever felt this blood thirsty to kill every last one of those men hiding inside that warehouse.

The warehouse was just on the outskirts of Yukon.

We were positioned right outside it.

All my clan.

All two hundreds of us.

They stood no chance of getting out of this alive, no chance at all.

Kidnapping and threatening me with Jenny was a very low blow on their part. It was the last fucking mistake they will ever make, I’ll make sure of it.

We were all positioned behind another abandoned warehouse, obscured from the fifteen men who were standing guards outside.

We were waiting for the snipers to take their places and confirm their visual on Jenny.

I was feeling so helpless right now, I had to say those words to buy us more time to get them into position as well as to act as our element of surprise.

He thought he was going to make me beg to come save her, to get me to do whatever the hell he wanted, he wanted me to meet him on his own terms so that he’ll have the upper hand. Little did he know that I was on to him from the start.

From the second they shot my men at the entrance.

I was out with my brothers in the middle of the town when I got the call.

The men who were on live feed duty called me with the news while one of them got in his car and parked a little far back to see what they were planning by sending just five men into our borders.

I acted right away, calling for the whole clan to ready themselves for a possible heated encounter.

Sending back up as well to all other remaining entrances so as not to let anything slip through them unnoticed.

I was heading on my way over there to take care of them when my lookout called me.

That’s when my heart stopped for the second time in my life.

He told me what he witnessed on the border and assured me that he was discreetly following behind them.

When he said they kidnapped Jenny and killed Simon Walker, I was sure that I heard him wrong.

What the hell was Jenny doing with Simon in the first place?

I had called home right after that, frantically yelling at my mom to find if Jenny was in the house.

The minutes felt like hours until she called me back to confirm what I was afraid of.

She was gone.

Tricked the guards outside the gate into letting her through and left in Megan’s car according to them.

And I realized the whole plan right then.

Damian used Simon to get to Jenny, and now they’re using Jenny to get to me.

Well here I am. Let’s hope you’re in there too Damian Zade.

My mind comes back to the present when I hear Daniel tsking in what seemed like a disappointed tone.

I was cooped up in the car with Lucas and David listening in on the conversation.

“You should see the look on Jennifer’s face right now, it’s priceless. Utter betrayal doesn’t properly cover it. Devastatingly heart broken? Yeah, that could work. What do you think Jennifer? Care to reply to Alex or should I take him up on his offer and do what I wish with you?”

I held on to the dashboard and clenched my jaw so tight, I was sure it was going to break in the next two seconds.

I didn’t know the bastard put me on speaker.

She would never believe that I meant a word of what I said, would she?

“Nothing to say? Both of you? Hmm well since you don’t really care for her, and you made it pretty clear to me that you’re not up for a meeting, I guess I’ll just go ahead and enjoy your wife now. Feel free to stay on the line and listen to me fucking her mouth with my dick Alex, I don’t mind an audience at all but I’m putting you off speaker now because I can’t have you taking back your words when I begin pounding on her. Goodbye for now” he said tauntingly.

My jaw slacked as I looked at Lucas in terror, and before I could utter a word, I heard Jenny screaming and crying out in terror.

“No! No! Get away from me! Don’t touch me! Nooo!”

I hit the mute button just in case he didn’t actually kill the speaker, and screamed at Lucas to confirm if the snipers had a visual on Jenny yet or not.

I couldn’t fire a single goddamn bullet before I had her secured by the snipers or she might get caught in the crossfire.

Meanwhile she continued to sob incoherently, and her sob intensified right after I heard something rip through the phone.

“No! Get your fucking hands off me! Alex! Al..!” she cried out.

I heard a loud slap and Jenny’s voice got cut off, replaced by a painful whimper.

I pounded on the dashboard with my fist repeatedly and bellowed in rage as my whole body shook with fury at what I was hearing.

I unmuted the call and cursed him out before I said “Stop touching her you motherfucker! I’m coming just give me the address, do you hear me? I said I’m coming! Stop touching her!”

Jenny’s next shriek tore through my heart and destroyed my very soul, and I found myself screaming along with her.

The bastard did put me off speaker, he didn’t hear a single word I just uttered.

“We have eyes on her Alex” one of the snipers said through Lucas’s phone.

“Kill anyone within her shooting range, we’re going in” I yelled out my order as I got out of the car and sprinted towards the damn building, leaving my phone inside while Jenny’s shrieks kept coming through, killing me slowly from the inside.

The shooting started and I was blindly killing everyone in my line of sight, not sparing them the slightest care.

I just wanted to get inside, burn that son of a bitch alive, and get the love of my life out of there.

Their men were dropping down fast and I found myself taking cover against one of the pillars just at the entrance of the building.

I had no idea where she was being held as I looked frantically through my cover.

She was no where in sight and my heart dropped out of my chest.

“Jenny!” I yelled frantically over the sound of gunshots filling the whole place.

No response came from her and my heart has already reached down to my stomach with dread.

The only place I didn’t have visibility on was the small room to the side.

“Lucas! Cover me I’m going inside” I ordered him.

He was positioned behind the pillar next to mine.

“I got you” he said tightly.

I sprinted towards the office shooting one guy standing in my way and threw myself inside just as a bullet barely missed the top of my head.

I immediately crawled and hid myself behind the wall as I looked around me with gripping fear.

She was laying on the floor, on her side with the chair she was bound into.

Her face was splattered with blood that I’m pretty sure wasn’t hers but a result of someone’s head or body shot in front of her, splashing her with his blood.

Her top was torn from the front along with her bra, exposing her entire chest and stomach.

She was shaking uncontrollably with her eyes tightly closed.

She would flinch harder every time a shot was fired around us.

There were two dead bodies inside as well.

One of them was definitely Daniel Zade with a bullet lodged in the back of his head.

I crawled over to her and touched her face, she screamed out and tried to break away from my touch but I held on to her and whispered to her softly “It’s me, it’s me Jenny. It’s Alex, I’m here. You’re safe”

She opened her eyes and looked at me in what I could only assume was disbelief.

It only confirmed what I was afraid of, she thought I meant what I said on the phone. She thought I wasn’t coming for her, that I have left her behind to suffer on her own.

That look only shattered me and tore me apart more than everything else.

“Alex” she whispered in a raspy voice as she continued to look at me without blinking, making sure that I was really here, that I really came to save her.

“I’m here” I said emotionally.

The sound of gunfire ceased and multiple voices declared “Clear” in the open space outside.

I adjusted her upright, took out a knife from my side pocket and cut out the cable ties binding her feet.

I turned around to cut the ones around her wrists and my blood boiled at the deep red marks her multiple tugs against them must have caused on the skin of her wrists.

I cut the cable, shrugged off my leather jacket, covered her with it, and lifted her up and carried her in my arms.

She clung to me and buried her head in my chest without saying anything.

I ran into Lucas and David who were coming to check on us.

Lucas’s eyes hardened at the sight of Jenny in my jacket.

“Was she shot anywhere?” Lucas asked tightly.

I shook my head as I proceeded to head out with them following behind me.

Just before we reached the entrance, David’s warning made me stop in my tracks.

“Lucas!”

On instinct, I turned around, dropped down on my knees with Jenny still clinging to me, and covered her with my body, just in time to hear two shots firing at the same time.
