Alex’s POV

At the mention of the word ‘cemetery’, Stefan’s face paled and his eyes went wide as he looked at me in fear for the first time since he was exposed.

“Wait Alex…” he started to say shakily.

I didn’t have any more time or patience within me to waste anymore; that last one I was already running low on, so I shoved him in front of me out of the living room as Lucas followed behind.

He was trying to struggle as I pushed him out through the front door, so I held on to the back of his shirt and walked him towards the car while Lucas went ahead of me and got into the driver’s seat.

“Alex, you’re not listening to me. I can help yo…”

I held the back of his neck and knocked his forehead on the side of the car brutally.

Het let out an agonized scream that made me a little satisfied and I shoved him into the back seat as I slid next to him.

“Keep talking so I can keep hitting you shamelessly” I threatened darkly.

That seemed to shut him up as Lucas drove out of the house.

I could feel him trembling next to me excessively all the way there.

It took no longer than three minutes to reach our destination.

I dragged him out of the car as he continued to struggle more viciously.

When we reached our father’s grave, I pushed him down and he landed roughly on his tombstone.

“Go get us a shovel Lucas” I said coldly without tearing my gaze from Stefan.

Lucas disappeared out of sight, and I don’t know why Stefan decided it was the right opportunity to convince me into letting him live.

He knelt in front of me and started speaking fast in a low shaky voice “Alex, you’re making a big mistake. I can help you end this, I have so much information that can help you get to Lord Z. I will never betray you again I swear! I swear on my brother’s grave!”

That last sentence was the last straw in my patience; which he just obliterated into nothing.

Is he for real?

I had no interest to find out.

By the time Lucas came back with a shovel, Stefan’s face was unrecognizable from the vicious beating he just received from me.

He was lying on the ground unconscious while his blood trickled down my bruised knuckles.

I beat the shit out of him but I was no where near satisfied yet.

My breathing was labored as I got up, took the shovel from his hand, and started digging a hole next to my father’s grave.

“Jesus, you didn’t even leave any place for me to land a punch dude” he said, whining.

“The rest of his body is intact. Feel free to break any bone you want. He’s all yours. I just wanted to make sure he can’t speak another word again” I said coldly as I continued to dig into the hole.

“Yeah, sounds good. I’ll just wait for him to come around again so I can indulge in his screams” he said amusingly.

I was running on pure rage and anger and I didn’t realize that I dug more than half the grave in an hour until Lucas called out to me in a loud tone “Alex! Stop! You’re going to faint any second now at this rate. Give me that, it’s my turn”

I snap from my haze at the sound of his voice and I notice how shaky and breathless I was at that moment.

I climbed up and let him continue digging while I caught my breath and stood over Stefan’s limp body to make sure he doesn’t make any effort to make a run for it.

By the time Lucas was done, he still wasn’t back into consciousness.

“Dude I think you put him in a coma” he said in admiration.

“No, he’s either playing us, or needs a little motivation to wake up” I said coldly.

“Like what?” asked Lucas curiously.

“Like this” I pulled out my gun and shot him in both legs.

He snaps awake instantly with a gurgling painful scream.

He keeps screaming for about two minutes before I decided that I had enough of his voice.

“Want your pound of flesh? Or should we get this over with?” I asked him firmly.

He stares at him for sometime, thinking about it, then he says nonchalantly “Nah, I think we’re not done yet”

“Agreed” I said icily.

“What do you have in mind?” I asked him.

“Set him on fire? I believe there is a small gasoline tank in the car” he suggested.

“Hmmm, seems fitting. At least we get to see him personally burn in hell before he actually takes a permanent residence there, I’d hate to miss the show” I said agreeably.

Call us savages or monsters, but the son of a bitch deserved to feel every ounce of pain there is for the pain he put us through and for the great man he had taken from us.

If he was an insensitive bastard, I’ll make sure to awaken every nerve ending in his body to make him feel this.

I didn’t know Stefan was listening until Lucas went back to the car to fetch the tank.

He whispered in agony “Please, please don’t do this. I’ll do anything, just please”

He kept begging in a weak voice, and I just wanted to get this over with. So I rolled his body until he fell inside while he broke down in a crying fit.

Lucas came back and started pouring it down into his body greedily, as he went back to begging again.

“Should I do the honors or should you?” he asked as he pulled out a lighter from his back pocket.

I didn’t need to know why he just happened to have a lighter on him. He used to smoke a little when my father was alive, although dad used to smack him in the back of the head whenever he caught him smoking at the back of the house, he didn’t quit.

I had a sense that his smoking habit took a turn for the worse after what happened in the past weeks.

“Go ahead” I gave him permission and took a final look at Stefan, who was now grasping at any chance to make us stop from killing him.

Lucas started lighting the lighter dramatically, taunting him.

“Wait, wait listen. I know why Lord Z is hell bent on using your borders to smuggle and it’s not about drugs at all. There is something much bigger than that, something that will bring him to your town kneeling and begging if you had your hands on it before he did. I swear it’s the truth. No one knows about it but me, I just found out about it a few days ago….. Please, please, I swear it’s the truth”

Lucas and I shared a calculative look with each other.

It wasn’t about drugs? Then what the hell was it about? What would be important enough to bring the big bad Lord Z begging to our door step?

“What is it about, if not drugs?” asked him Lucas doubtingly as he still held the flaming lighter.

“Get me out first. I’ll tell you everything I swear” he said weakly.

We looked at each other again, trying to decide if we should listen or not.

Even if we got him out, he would want to be returned back to the house, then heal, then make a deal with me, all that before telling me about whatever he knows or what he was maybe making up on the spot. It wasn’t worth seeing nor hearing him any longer than this moment right here.

I shook my head and gestured for him to finish him off.

“Go to hell Stefan” I said coldly.

“I’ll be seeing you in hell, real soon trust me on that. He will never let you live for long after everything you did today” Stefan promised.

I don’t respond to him as I nod my head to Lucas.

Lucas gives him a taunting smile as he says “Enjoy the barbecue”

Then he threw the lighter down and we stay frozen, watching the fire eat him alive and crackle, as he lets out a pure piercing, animalistic, anguished string of screams that had even my heart shivering in pain.

The screaming doesn’t last for long though, and the sudden stop tells me he’s already gone.

I felt satisfied that one of them at least got what he deserved and that I was able to end him without any dire consequences.

But at the same time, worry settled into the pit of my stomach.

Stefan Snow was easy to lure back here and more easier to kill because he was on his own.

Lord Z was anything but that. He was powerful and had so many people willing to take a bullet for him and kill anyone who stands in his way.

But I was determined to end what I started. He won’t stop until he kills us and takes our town, I was going to do everything within my power to end him before that.
