The Howling Heart's Forgiveness

Chapter 151

Chapter 151

The rage inside me is hard to contain the further we climb these familiar steps. We have only just passed the third floor finding no one standing guard at first. Brynlee and I had both found this suspicious and so we waited, sensing the area for any wolf lying in wait. Luckily waiting paid off as a group of warriors passed by the steps. Brynlee held back this time as Tristan, Ashton and I took care of them. One tried to use a dagger on me seeing as I did not have one of the guns on hand to inject the drugs into him. In the end, I took my anger out on this wolf, killing him with his own dagger that I wrestled from his hand before he could stab me with it while Tristan and Ashton took down the other three with ease because of their tranquilizer guns.

After the four wolves were taken out, Brynlee joined us, her sharp gaze glaring at the sharp dagger in my hands. She was the one to point out it was covered in wolfsbane, the scent faint but still deadly to us. She had taken the dagger from my hand and expertly looked it over until she found a small button that blended in with the intricate hilt. If she pressed that button while stabbing someone, she would fill them with wolfbane.

Now, that dagger is strapped to her hip with the sheath. I feel like in anyone else’s hands, we would be in danger, but Brynlee has a plan for it. She has a bone to pick with Tanya for allowing her goons to coat their claws with wolfbane and use them on her the day I rejected her. Now she wants Tanya to feel the burning pain of that drug before Brynlee kills her.

“We have three minutes until the alarm sounds.” Tristan says in the quiet, his gaze watching over the hand railing to see if anyone is coming up the steps.

“We still have to make it past the fourth floor and reach the fifth.” He sighs out, his gaze meeting mine. I know what he is thinking - that this whole ordeal has taken longer than we wanted. But we have not only had to take out a few Warriors but also have to play it safe to keep Valor from growing suspicious. The Pack House has become quiet since we entered the building; too quiet that even I grow weary.

“We just need to wait for the alarm then.” Brynlee calls out, a smirk on her face.

“Right now, we are just nearing the top of the fourth floor. If we can just wait for the Alarm, Ashton and Tristan can put their training to use and take out a few men while Rune and I race to the top.” She continues. For a moment I am stunned into silence by this very dumb idea. But as I let it sink in, I realize Brynlee is right.

We can use the chaos the alarm brings by rushing up the steps. Ashton and Tristan can hold their own against a few warriors with the tranquilizer guns in their hands and also pick off a few of the worst wolves with their claws and fists.

“You know you scare me.” Tristan states staring at Brynlee with wide eyes. She shrugs, her eyes sparkling with mischief at his words. With a quick plan to wait the three minutes until the alarm rang, our team of four crept up the final steps to the fourth floor and quickly found two Warriors waiting at the top. They instantly lunge for us but Brynlee and I are quick. We use their own momentum to throw them down the steps, the loud thuds their bodies make causing us to wince.

“You think anyone heard that?” Ashton asks, the alarms sounding right after.

“I would say yes.” I answer, hearing the sounds of footsteps rushing through the building. Brynlee and I look at each other before turning to Ashton and Tristan.

“You two have this under control, right?” She asks, already moving backward towards the stairs that will take us to Valor and Tanya.

“Oh yeah.” Ashton chuckles out lowly, cracking his knuckles.

“You two go take care of those pieces of shits. We will make sure no one bothers you two.” Tristan adds, blood lust seeping out of him. With their reassurance, Brynlee turns around only to dodge an incoming attack. Without thinking, my nails turn to claws once more and I rush to her attacker before either of them can regain their bearings. My hand aims for the attacker’s chest, my claws slicing through easily as the ribs brake around my hand and I pierce this wolf’s heart. He dies instantly unable to retaliate. It takes a moment to retrieve my hand back from his chest, but once I am free of this dead body, Brynlee and I rush up the steps.

Thankfully the way is clear as no other wolf but the Alpha Family lives on this floor. Omegas are the only ones allowed up here to clean the four large rooms, but by now they would either be at home or in their rooms on the third floor. Hell, some may even be in the basement with Sarah by now.

“What the fuck is going on?” Someone shouts, the sound carrying all the way towards Brynlee and me. A smirk graces my lips as I recognize this angry roar as Valor’s. It seems our wolves have indeed been stealthy as he still has no clue what is going on.

“We are under attack!” A scared female voice replies back. By now Brynlee and I are just a few steps from the landing. I can see Valor standing in front of his bedroom door, an Omega in his grasp.

“By who?” A loud growl vibrates the walls and it takes everything in me not to laugh. What little power Valor has is nothing compared to what Aunt Asteria has shown me these last few weeks. Valor is a pup compared to her.

“By us.” Brynlee calls out as we reach the fifth floor, the two of us coming to a stop. Valor’s eyes widen in shock as he takes us in, the scent of blood coming from our black clothes; blood that belonged to his men. Beside me I feel the power that Brynlee has grown into and release my own. Our powers mix with one another in harmony and from where I stand I can see Valor paling, his body shaking with slight fear.

“Hi, dad.” I greet Valor, feeling Brynlee’s amusement at my choice of words.

“I’ve come back for my Pack.”
