# 114 DNA Test
# 114 DNA Test
Maxwell and Anna stepped out of the second hospital; they had both submitted their samples at the hospitals and were asked to return in three days for the results. It had cost quite a fortune having a DNA test done twice by different hospitals at such an early age, and Anna now understood why couples hardly opt for that when a child’s paternity is questioned.
Utilizing the opportunity, Maxwell had also insisted that she run an all-round test to ensure that she and the baby were fine, with all the stress and fear of getting unalived in the past few days, he thought it was necessary.
Fortunately, the test results had come out looking good. Both she and the baby were in good shape, and Anna could credit that to the good life Maxwell had given her since she moved in with him. For some reason, her old landlord was yet to contact her since the fire and that was so unlike him, not even a message from his lawyer.
As they got to the car, Maxwell opened the passenger door for her. Annabel wondered why he never carried a driver or security when he was with her, he only took a driver during his personal rides. Maybe he wanted to respect their privacy but with the current threat to her life, Anna thought she would be more comfortable knowing that one trained security was always around them.
Getting into the car, Anna was nervous, more like worried…
What if the child turns out to be Jimmy’s? She didn’t think she could live with that. Aside from the fear of having a baby for such a despicable human, she feared that he could always return to claim the child, which would lead to unending conflicts between Maxwell and himself.
Speaking of Maxwell, he might not have a problem with it right now but Ana feared what his perception of this child would be in future when he is no longer drunk in love with her, she has lived long enough to know that love fades with time and people begin to think more realistically.
“What is it again, sweetheart? You are not in pain, are you?” he asked with concern in his eyes.
Anna forced a little smile, her attention called back to the present. “I don’t know, it is just that… I know we have had this talk already but I can't help but worry about the results.”
“Listen Love, there is nothing to be worried about. What do you think the word father means? A father doesn’t have to be the guy who plants the seed, a father is the guy who sticks through the process, nurturing and watching that seed bloom; that is the guy I want to be, Ann, the only guy that matters.” He spoke with love and genuine concern in his eyes.
Anna blushed at his words. “Mr. Blackwood, Sir. If you want to ask me out, do it the right way… I mean, I am still going to say no, but at least you did right.” She grinned.
Maxwell chuckled. “We will see about that,” he said, more like a challenge to himself. He was a man with a goal and he would stop at nothing to achieve it.

Jennifer was lost in reminiscence as she walked towards the elevator, the images from last night were still trapped in her head and she couldn’t get over it. Turns out Marshall was not as innocent as he looks, and she loved every bit of it.
The elevator door opened as she approached and without even thinking, she walked in. just to bump into a guy walking out.
“Shit! Not again,” she cursed as she ran into his arms; of course it was Marshall, whatever they say about fate. “Speak of the devil,” she muttered as she looked up at him.
“Yeah, I am starting to think we should avoid this elevator.” He smiled as he stared at her and she giggled.
He looked effortlessly sophisticated in a charcoal gray suit, the fabric hugging his athletic frame perfectly. A crisp white shirt peeked out from the open collar of his dress shirt, the sleeves rolled up casually to reveal strong forearms. A silver tie clip gleamed on his silk tie, adding a touch of personality to his otherwise conservative attire.
“How was your trip home? you didn’t call and you didn’t take my calls either,” he spoke softly, with them still standing in the way between the elevator doors.
“Oh, so it was you? I thought it was some loser calling.” She smirked, rolling her tongue in her mouth.
Marshall laughed softly. “Are you saying that you didn’t have my number?” he asked curiously and folded his strong arms.
Whatever he just did, it had an effect on her. She swallowed hard and took a step back to clear her head from his intoxicating presence. “Was I supposed to have it? Remember, we were not friends.”
Marshall laughed again. “Does that imply we are now?” he queried.
“It depends on what you do going forward, let’s just say we have started on a clean slate.” She hummed.
“Okay, speaking of the past, I couldn’t help but notice you left something of yours at my house last night.”
Jennifer tilted her head. “Are you sure it doesn’t belong to one of your girlfriends who came over before me?” she asked.
Marshall huffed. “There was none before you,” he said softly, almost like he was ashamed to admit it.
Jennifer smiled. She didn’t know why she believed him, yes he looked so innocent but he wasn’t a kid.
“Alright then, I will come pick it up tonight,” she whispered, drawing lines on his crisp shirt before walking fully into the elevator with her back.
Marshall stood there smiling, he swiftly turned to face her. “I will be looking forward to that,” he replied and then stepped out of the elevator, still standing there.
Jennifer looked away shyly as she pressed the up button and the Elevator door closed. As the lift went up, he chuckled to himself.
“Damn, Mr. Gilbert is definitely going to end my life when he finds out.” He muttered to himself.
Maybe it wasn’t such a good idea sleeping with the Boss’s daughter, but she was just so pretty and even though she was a screaming red flag, he couldn’t resist her.
