Alpha's Little Miracle

Chapter 123

Chapter 123

ADRIA’S POV.

I was being sincere. I was tired of fighting, and fighting endlessly. Before it ended in the death of one of us accidentally, I wanted him to close his eyes, and kill me.

That was the solution we’d been ignoring. He didn’t want to kill me, with his hands, so he’d been avoiding it.

“You’re someone I know as brave. It’ll be over very soon. I’ll rise again, and even if I forget you, my heart won’t forget the face it beats for. When I come to terms with who I am, and accept that I love you, things will be alright again, so please, Lucien. Please…” I begged, still holding his hand to my neck, but he withdrew it, and sighed.

“How do you expect me to kill you with my hands…?”

“Just do it! Do it! I’m sick of our clashes repeating itself over, and over. Aren’t you sick of it too?” I asked, getting to my feet, and looking at him straight in the eye.

“Damn, Adria. We need to think.” He said, placing his hands on the wall next to him, and bowing his head.

“We’ve done all the thinking there is to do. I can’t survive the Land of the dreaded, and not achieve my aim. No, I can’t.”

Lucien sighed, and his fists clenched, as he gave it a deep thought.

I knew it was hard, but it was even harder for me.

“What do you want me to do?” He asked, in a low, and defeated voice.

“Tomorrow. Let’s get rid of this issue tomorrow, without fail.” I said, moving to him, and touching his arm gently.

“Isn’t tomorrow too soon?” He asked, still in that same defeated voice.

“I’d have loved to do it right here, and now, but I want to give you some time. Tomorrow, when we fight, do not hesitate. Do not.” I told him softly, and when his face squeezed up, I hugged him.

It was hard on the both of us, but one of us had to stay strong, and Lucien had stayed strong for both of us, for as long as I could remember. It was my turn to do the same.

That night, we cooked together, watched movies, tried our best to crack jokes, reminisced our early days together, and laughed about a lot of things.

The most memorable time was when I had discovered Lucien was a wolf, and threatened to shove wolfs bane in his nose, and we had laughed a lot at that.

Before we slept, we made love to each other, and it was different. Maybe because it was our last, before we finally parted.

And as soon as dawn came, the vampire in me didn’t even let us have a minute more to ourselves. Rather, it seemed as if it had listened to our conversation the previous day, and wanted us to end it quickly.

I attacked Lucien in his sleep, and his eyes went wide open.

“Adria…” he croaked, immediately I dug my claws into his shoulder.

Then, and there, we began another hot fight, but this time around, Lucien showed the abilities he’d been hiding for a long time because he would rather not hurt me.

In less than three minutes, I felt his claws slash through my neck.

I opened my mouth, and gasped for air, as blood poured down my chest from my throat, which I tried to cover with my hands. I couldn’t even begin to describe the pain. Lucien shouted in anger, pain, and frustration, and slashed me again.

Killing me was too easy for him, yet he had held it in.

It became very hard to breathe, as I fell back. My lungs were all torn out.

Seconds later, I watched Lucien breathing heavily, with tears streaming down his face, as he watched me painfully, then the darkness stole me away.

LUCIEN’S POV.

When Adria’s eyes closed, I found my way to the bathroom, and sank to the floor, holding my head in my hands, which were stained with Adria’s blood.

I had done it. I had done it at last. What she wanted, I had given her, and she was gone quickly.

What if she didn’t rise? What if we had been wrong, and I had killed her the wrong way? For a long time, I cried in the restroom, unable to go back to Adria.

When the light in the sky became brighter, I finally left the restroom, and went to her.

She was so cold, and so white, and I couldn’t help, but feel she was really dead. Was I to bury her? I had no idea.

Shortly, Mrs. Williams came to my house. Her eyes were swollen, like she had spent the night crying, and when she saw me, she nodded.

We communicated silently in that way.

However, her tears broke out loud, and hard when she saw Adria still laying on the floor of my room. I also cried, unable to hold my tears, after recalling the events of the night when she was still warm, and in my arms.

Mrs. Williams and I held a quiet burial for Adria, and we both spent days in the forest, where we had buried her.

For two weeks after returning to my house, and waiting patiently for Adria, I had drunk heavily, and had become a shadow of myself.

It seemed like we had either been fooled, or something had gone wrong. Adria wasn’t returning. She hadn’t come to look for me, and I couldn’t bring myself to open up her grave, lest I saw her rotting.

If that happened, I would go crazy, and would never forgive myself.

My doorbell rang, and I went to get it. It was Zayne.

I had spent nights on phone calls, bothering him, and telling him about my sorrows, but I had not expected to see him standing at my door.

I let him in, and he went to the sofa, while I made my way to the kitchen to get him tea. It had become a habit. Even in my sadness, I still couldn’t resist giving a visitor tea.

“Alpha Lucien, I know you’re grieving, but you have to be more vigilant.” He said, after I had managed to serve him tea.

“Oh, more vigilant.” I muttered, emotionlessly, plopping down on the next sofa.

“I have news. Two. Both are not good, but one might mean something to you.” He added, taking out a number of papers.

I really wasn’t in the mood for that, at the moment.

“Zayne, maybe later, we can…”

“People have been going missing again.” He blurted out, and I turned to him, slowly.

There was only one thing on my mind.

Adria. It had to be her.
