Alpha's Little Miracle

Chapter 122

Chapter 122

ADRIA’S POV.

I felt sad, and distraught. What thick darkness was threatening to cover our light?

Athena went back to tending to Lucien’s arm, and I watched her.

“So, what have you come here for?” She asked softly, dabbing ointment on the wound.

“Um… we keep on fighting each other. I’m a vampire, and he’s a werewolf.” I replied, watching her intently.

“Of course, you keep on fighting each other more than the average wolf, and vampire would fight.” She replied, dropping the wool, and ointment.

“Why?” I asked, and she got up from her stool, placing a hand on Lucien’s shoulder, and holding his arm with the other.

“Because you both are the strongest of your species.” She replied, setting Lucien’s arm straight, in a single motion.

Lucien didn’t make a noise, but the way he squeezed up his face, and looked away, suggested that it had hurt.

“What a fine young man.” Athena replied, and moved to me, starting with my head. “You’re the daughter of the vampire Queen. A pure-blooded vampire, and he’s the Lycan King. Of course, you will fight some more brutal fights, and it won’t end until one of you is dead.” She began, as she tended to the injuries on my head.

“But we didn’t fight at all in the land of the dreaded.” I pointed out, wincing a little from the pain.

“That’s because almost all your abilities are disabled. Your senses are dimmed in here.”

“So, how do we end it? That’s the reason we came here.” Lucien asked, placing an arm on his shoulder.

“She has to die first. She is in a state of confusion, and is still accepting herself. After obtaining her full powers, and accepting who she is totally, only then, would her inner self be able to come to terms, with the love she has for you.

“She has to find herself first, then decide if loving, or hunting you is what she wants. She and the vampire in her have to become one before they can make decisions together.” She explained, moving from my head to my arm, for treatment.

“I… I have to die first?” I asked, pointing to myself.

“Yes, you will rise again, and when you do, you will look for him, but you will forget all about him.” She added casually, and my eyebrows shot to the ceiling.

“I will forget all about Lucien? Why is that?” I asked, but she simply got up, leaving for the kitchen, which was the first place we set our foot on.

“You waking from the dead will be terrible. You get your powers from the vampire Queen, and your powers will heighten, and grow to an extent that not even you, will be able to control the chaos you unleash. You will be something this world has never seen.” She said, from the kitchen, as she spooned beef broth, and mashed potatoes for us into bowls.

Thereafter, she came with the bowls, and served us.

“Eat. You won’t leave if you don’t finish everything in the bowl.” She warned, as she left to sit on another sofa.

She bent, and took out wool, and knitting tools, beginning to knit an unfinished cloth, rapidly.

Lucien and I looked at each other, and he nodded, and began to eat.

It was so hard to eat, but I did anyway. There was nothing else I could do.

“But…” I began again, after lifting a spoon to my mouth.

“I believe I have answered your questions, and told you all you need to know. Nothing more.” She replied strictly, not taking her eyes off her wool.

We slept in one of the rooms that night, and the next morning, we were all healed, and looking like we barely sustained any injuries.

We had a hearty breakfast, after which, Athena showed us the safe path.

“Be careful of the choices you make.” She said to us, as we took off, and we returned her words with smiles.

Lucien and I walked for a full day without talking. We were both immersed in our thoughts, and worlds. It was all just too much to take in.

“Lucien…” I began when we got to the edge of the forest late at night.

“Let’s just think things over at our houses, okay?” He suggested, and I nodded.

When I got to my house, my mother was in the living room, staring into space, and when she saw me, she actually screamed, and ran to me.

“Adria! Goodness! Goodness!” She screamed, running her hands over me, and hugging me repeatedly.

“We survived.” I said, smiling, and she burst into tears. We stayed there hugging each other for minutes, before I began to tell her all that had happened.

We sat down there in front of the door, and I let out a long sigh.

“It was quite a scary ordeal, and Lucien did his best to keep me safe.” I began, and she released me, then stroked my hair.

“I would love to thank him. You don’t know how much I worried. How hard I cried. It’s been so… I thought I lost you forever.” She sobbed, and I held her cheek.

“But I’m here now.”

“I still… I still don’t understand. How did you guys survive?” She asked, holding on to my hand, like I was going to suddenly run away. “I mean… this isn’t a dream, is it?” She asked again, and I smiled.

“It’s very real.”

“Tell me… What obstacles did you meet on the way?” She asked.

“Scorpions. Black ones. Plenty of them. They chased us across a desert.” I replied, and her mouth fell.

“Did they hurt you?” She suddenly asked, checking my body, and I smiled.

“I’m fine. I healed. I also happened to run into corpses, who almost tore out my soul, but I realized that thinking of the living, disabled their powers in a way, so I thought of you, and of everyone. Oh, and also, I fought with Lucien. We were placed under an illusion, and he looked like a monstrous, giant spider to me.”

“That damn forest!” She swore, and I gave a little smile.

“But I saw his neck chain, and discovered he also saw me, as a monster. It’s actually hard to explain it all. I had thought I could make up a whole novel from it, but it turns out I can’t even say much. We were chased by countless eagles, we jumped down a cliff, and almost became lunch for a strange, and gigantic octopus. After that, we were flushed down a huge waterfall, and that was the end.” I narrated, and she stroked my cheek.

“How do you make it sound so easy?”

“They were the worst days of my life.”

“So, what did Athena say?” She asked, sniffing.

“Oh, mum. It wasn’t good.”

“What? Tell me.”

“She said I have to die.”

“What!?”

“I know, I know… it’s terrible news.” I said, placing a gentle hand on her shoulder. “She said I have to accept myself, before I can accept him. I have to become one with the vampire in me, so we can both decide if we want to hunt, or love Lucien.” I explained, and ran a hand through my hair.

She stayed silent for a long while, staring at her fingers, before she finally replied in a half-whisper.

“She’s right.” She sniffed, and I took her hands in mine.

“I’m confused. I would have happily let Lucien kill me, but she said I’ll forget him.” I told her, with tears glinting in my eyes, and she hugged me.

“It’ll be fine, Adria. Let’s… let’s forget about killing for now. Let me make you something, okay? Just, just take your mind off dying, please.” She pleaded, and I let her take me to the kitchen, where she began to make preparations for a meal.

She, just like Lucien, was distressed, and wasn’t ready to let me die, even though she trusted Athena’s foreseeing skills.

~

Lucien and I didn’t talk about it for days, we kept on thinking of it. Dying wasn’t something so easy to do.

Eventually, I went to his house, after getting sick of trying to pretend it never happened. We went through so much, and almost died, I couldn’t just ignore it.

“Adria.” He called when he opened the door; However, my initial reaction to seeing Lucien for the first time in days, was to grab his neck, and push him inside.

He gripped my wrist, but I didn’t realize when I had gotten so fast.

I stuck my claws into his tummy, and turned around, giving him a kick on the head.

Kill him! Finish him off!

Lucien and I launched into a heavy fight, and it was even more intense than ever. I gave blows, and he defended them, but didn’t fight back.

My blows didn’t stop, instead they got even faster, and more lethal, as I kept on striking him at his weakest spots.

Finally, I made to slash out his neck when he gave me a hit that knocked me to the floor.

I tried to stand, but in a second, he was right in front of me, claws to my neck, ready to tear it out…

But he hesitated, and after a while, he moved to withdraw his hand, but I grabbed it.

“If it’s to kill me, that’s needed. Then do it.”
