Alpha's Little Miracle

Chapter 103

Chapter 103

ADRIA’S POV

I didn’t even have it in me to be mad anymore. I was getting scared. Did he really intend to kill them all, one after the other?

That was just unfair. It was the same thing as being asked to die by drowning or by falling. Either way resulted in death. Simply put, if I ignored Derek, he would keep feeding on my classmates, and if I went back to him, he’d expect me to hunt and feed with him.

Choosing either of his choices resulted in people dying, and I was more than concerned.

“So you mean Jamila is gone too?” A guy asked.

“The police are not sure yet. However, news of a serial kidnapper has been released, so do well to stay in your homes at night, and steer clear of the forest.” Lucien replied, as professionally as he could.

“What if it’s actually a vampire? Those dead cows had no blood left in them. What if the vampires took the missing girls?” Another girl asked and Lucien gave a little sigh.

“When we find the bodies, we’ll know. Let’s stop making assumptions, and move on. If any of you wish to visit Jamila and Halsey’s parents, you can do so.” He added.

After History, I went to meet Lucien in his office. I knocked, and he opened the door.

“Adria…”

“Did you catch Derek?” I asked, and his eyes fell.

“I didn’t, but I’m going to catch him very soon. All I want to give him is a warning. Everyone deserves so much as a warning, and if he refuses to stop, then I’ll make my move. Did you go to see him last night?” He asked, and I sighed.

“I did.”

“Adria, I told you not to.”

“So what? I’m expected to just sit here, and do nothing? You’re not supposed to be saying that!”

“Do you think he can’t suddenly decide to harm you? Do you think vampires don’t kill other vampires? I don’t want you anywhere near him.” He snapped, but I wasn’t having any of it.

“Then, do you really expect me to just sit and watch? This… this rips me apart. It breaks more than I ever thought I could be broken. Hearing people die, and knowing I had something to do with it, is devastating. Honestly, I can’t help but want to do something!”

“I understand you. I understand you, Adria, but you have to leave it to me. I’ll take care of it.” Lucien insisted, and I turned, and left his presence. I just couldn’t get my mind off it.

That day, after closing hours, I went to a phone store to purchase a new phone since I couldn’t go searching for the old one.

“Good day, I want to purchase…” I was saying, but stopped as I noticed the person who was supposed to attend to me was Derek.

He smiled, dipped his hands into his pocket, and brought out my phone.

“You…”

“I’ll be right back. Jamie, you can stand in for me. I have to attend to a friend.” He said casually to a Blondie before gesturing towards the door, and I stared hard at him before walking out of the store.

“Nasty sunlight, uh. Well, I have your phone, so you don’t need to get another.”

“What are you doing here?” I asked, looking back at the store.

“Waiting for you. Waiting for you to realize you needed a new phone. Now you’re here, I might hand your phone back to you, but before we do that, I was just wondering if you gave my offer any thoughts.” He suggested casually like he had never done anything bad.

“I didn’t give it any more thoughts because there’s nothing to think about. You want me to return to hunting people? How brazen. I am telling you, Derek, I am not returning.”

“Why would you not return? We both know we had fun.”

“Hand me my phone, Derek.”

“I might just keep it. It’s quite easy calling your course mates out, asking them to meet, then pouncing on them.”

“What? That’s… that’s how you’ve…”

“Adria!” I suddenly heard, and I almost dropped the book in my arm. That was Stacy.

What was she doing there? Why did she have to run into me when I was talking to Derek?

“Oh, Stacy.” I called back, as she climbed the entrance steps to meet me.

“Uh, who?” She asked, with a faint blush.

“I’m…”

“I don’t know him… He happened to…”

“Isn’t this your phone, Adria? You said you lost it.” Stacy said, taking my phone out of Derek’s hands. “It is your phone.”

“Yeah, yes. He found it for me, so we agreed to meet here, and exchange it.” I lied, and tried to take Stacy’s arm so we could leave, but she extended her arm to Derek.

“I’m Stacy, and you are…”

Derek cast a meaningful smile my way, and my heart thrummed.

“Derek. The name’s Derek. You look beautiful.”

“Oh, thank you. So, Derek, do you…”

“Stacy! Let’s leave.” I said, strongly, grabbing her arm hard.

“Hey, Adria.” She called, as I dragged her down the steps. “What the heck is wrong with you?” She added, and looked back, trying to bid Derek goodbye.

No, I couldn’t afford for any interaction with Derek on Stacy’s part. She was not to go near him! Even if she questioned me hard. I was going to be firm on my decision.

“What is wrong with you?” She asked, taking my hands off her when we turned around a corner.

“No, tell me what is wrong with you? How can you just begin to flirt with a total stranger? In seconds, you’d ask to meet with him at night.”

“Whoa. I was about to do that.”

“Stacy! Stop it. With all the news going around, shouldn’t you be more scared of strangers?”

“He’s handsome, and he found your phone for you.” She said, shrugging.

“And that makes him…”

A text came in on my phone, interrupting me. I took it from her, and checked it.

It read; I have little patience. Your friends are next.
