Alpha's Little Miracle

Chapter 33

Chapter 33

LUCIEN’S POV

I had been quite uncomfortable with Monica because the conversation had been forced and I was more than happy to hear Alpha Grayson clear his throat as he emerged from wherever he had been. I got to my feet and turned around. He was coming down from the stairs gently and I bowed a little as a sign of formality and respect.

He returned my bow and continued his journey down the stairs that was taking him an unexpectedly long amount of time.

“Daddy you were too late. He’s been here for ages.” Monica whined, suddenly sounding like she was fifteen years younger.

“I’m quite sorry. I had a little issue back upstairs. I hope you aren’t annoyed.” Alpha Grayson said as he approached me.

“It’s all fine.” I assured him and watched him go to sit on a separate sofa.

“I’ve been keeping him company. That’s why he says it’s fine.” Monica said, rolling her eyes and the Alpha laughed while I went back to sitting.

“I guess I do have to thank you for that, and I’m also afraid you would have to give him a tour of the Palace and the Kingdom. That would suit you well right? I’m sure you don’t have any appointments?” He asked, and she smiled widely as she took her seat once more.

Was she having the meeting with us?

“I’ll cancel them all.”

“No it’s fine.” I interjected immediately.

“There’s no way you’ll be here and I’ll be out meeting friends.” She told me as a little blush crept to her cheeks.

“Oh my! Forgive my manners, Alpha Lucien. Here is my daughter, Monica.” Alpha Grayson said, gesturing towards Monica.

“No, it’s fine. She already introduced herself to me as your daughter.” I replied, and he chuckled.

“Well, since that has been done, I guess we’ll get to business now.” He said, then turned to Monica. “If you’ll excuse us darling. We have some things to talk about. I’ll call you in later.” He told her, and she looked displeased but didn’t say a word. She stole a quick glance at me, bit her lips and got to her feet.

“I’ll leave.” She said stiffly, and her heels knocked the floor hard as she strode across it. She seemed to be someone who had a lot to her. To me, it looked like she was pretending to be kind and courteous.

As she left, she almost slammed the door but caught it in time to stop it, and closed it rather gently, smiling at me.

“Alright, Alpha Lucien. What is it you need to discuss?” He asked, paying me his full attention.

“The killer vampires.” I started, and he leaned back in his chair, closing his eyes with a sigh.

“The killer vampires.” He muttered, repeating my words as he massaged his forehead with his thumb and index finger.

“They’re the reason I’m here.”

“What about them?” He asked, opening his eyes.

“They’ve been suspiciously silent all this time. I haven’t seen a trace of one for a long time now. Probably they’re planning something?” I asked, and he straightened in his chair.

“They suddenly became silent? Something is wrong. Why do I also feel they’re planning something. It’s unlike them to suppress their desire for long. That’s if truly they haven’t been striking as you said.”

“Exactly my train of thoughts. Killer vampires want to feed and keep on feeding. They want to destroy. They’re not hungry for blood but they demand it, it’s like they can’t function properly without wasting a life and for them to stay silent this way, I can’t help but think they have something they’re planning.” I said, and he gave a deep sigh.

“I have enough problems already but these jerks are going to add to it? Alpha Lucien we can’t just let them do whatever they want. We have to find out what they’re up to because if we waste any more time, by the time they’re done, they might have done the worst damage. You’re sure there haven’t been any suspicious missing people cases recently?” He asked, stroking his chin.

“There hasn’t been such a case. If there was, I would have started to trace them once again,”

“We will catch them. Thank you for telling me about this. I will also send some of my men to find out whatever they can, you also do what you can on your side. It will all turn out good.” He assured me, and I nodded. Then he snapped his fingers. “That reminds me. When are you going to pick one of our fine ladies? Are you still going to wait for your mate for forever?’ he asked and I smiled. For some reason, I didn’t want to tell him about Adria being a human. When I was ready, I knew how I’d let everyone know.

MONICA’S POV.

I stormed down the hallways. Why didn’t they allow me be there with them? What was it that they wanted to talk about that was so confidential they couldn’t let me listen?

I happened to run into my mother on my way back, and I attempted to walk past her as I wasn’t in a good mood, but she stopped me.

“Don’t tell me you flunked it.” She said, holding onto my arm.

“I didn’t! Dad sent me out.” I snapped, jerking my arm out of her fingers, and leaving her.

“Your dad? Why would he… Wait… Monica wait.” She called but I didn’t stop walking away. “Monica!”

I wasn’t in the mood.

About thirty minutes later, there was a knock on my door and I threw my ear pods aside.

“Come in.” I said, and my dad came in. I immediately sat up and faced him. “Dad why did you send me out?” I asked immediately.

“Didn’t you see he was uncomfortable with you listening to the worry he came to place before me? Have some sense Monica. What’s your business between two Alphas?”

“He’s the man I’m going to marry.”

“Oh. About that…” he said, then looked away. “I don’t think it’s going to work.”
