Chapter 32
Chapter 32
MONICA’S POV.
My heart seemed to jump and I was out of words as I saw him seated on the sofa cross-legged. He was as elegant as an Alpha should be. His aura was all around the place and he was handsome.
His beauty was so fierce that my heart started to tremble. What if I said the wrong thing? What if he didn’t like me? What if he didn’t want to have anything to do with a woman?
A lot of ‘what ifs’ went through my mind but I shook my head and brushed it off. He was going to like me. What was there not to like in me? I was perfect. I was the heartthrob of every man in my father’s domain. So there was no way in hell he wasn’t finding me attractive.
He turned, noticing my presence and looked at me. I let out a light gasp as our eyes met and it seemed like fate at that moment. He wasn’t my mate but the feeling I felt in my heart was a roaring feeling. It was like a burst of fireworks. We were meant for each other. We were a perfect match.
There was nothing pulling us apart. I was meant for him and he was meant for me. He was mine.
I lowered my lashes breaking the eye contact and walked slowly to him.
“Welcome to my Palace, Alpha Lucien.” I greeted with a slight bow and I fixed a smile on my face as I raised my head. I needed him to see me confident as men liked confident ladies.
He got up from the sofa as every gentleman ought to do. He made a swift bow that made my heart flutter, then he extended his hand for a handshake.
“Let me introduce myself properly.” He said in a voice that seemed like music to my ears. Oh my gosh! I was talking to my love for the very first time.
Had I not been in love with him before? Because at the moment, I was falling deeper and deeper for him. It was like love at first sight even though he had occupied my heart for a long time.
I chuckled a little at his formality, my fingers flying to tuck my hair behind my ear even though it was already held back by the pin.
“You don’t have to be so formal. I believe I’m the one that ought to introduce myself since you don’t know anything about me. After all, I know you are the Lycan King.” I said in the sweetest voice I possessed and it turned out to be something angelic that I hadn’t known I could produce. “I am Monica. The daughter of the Alpha of this Kingdom.” I introduced myself taking his hand and he grasped it in his. His hands were firm, his fingers long and smooth and the grip showed just how strong he was within.
A blush appeared on my cheeks and I swept my lashes low. Sparks flew just through the handshake but unfortunately, it didn’t last.
He had left my hand quickly.
“Oh please, sit.” I said when I saw he was courteously waiting for me to either leave or sit. I sat on the sofa opposite him and put a cushion on my laps.
“I thought you had business with your father.” He asked, staring at me and I blushed.
“I got the news that you were around and came to offer my greetings. I heard you reside in the human world, how are things over there?” I asked, inciting conversation. He smiled at my question and the look in his eyes was one of fondness.
Was he that fond of the human world?
“They’re unique people.” He replied and I was stunned.
“Unique?” I asked in surprise. Unique had been the last word I had expected to be associated with the humans. They were nothing unique. They were powerless, annoying and had lives that could easily be snuffed out.
“Yes.” He answered, meeting my eyes and I nodded.
“So… so have…have you found any human particularly unique? Surely it must have been a person that made you think the people are unique.” I mentioned and my heart felt like it was sinking all because of my anticipation of his answer.
“Well, I have always thought them unique. They have always been intriguing.” He replied, and it made me feel a bit better. At least, he didn’t admit to a special someone making every human unique.
“How is being a teacher going?”
“You sure know a lot about me.”
“Oh.” I let out softly and gave a nervous chuckle. “Everyone knows about you here. You’re a… you’re a… hot topic.” I completed and cleared my throat. I was being too obvious. I had to calm down because it was sure he would like me. He had no other person after all. He was liking me.
“Hot topic.” He murmured and gave a little sigh.
“My father’s being late right? I wonder what’s he’s doing.” I said. I myself was impatient. I needed to let him know I had found the man I wanted to marry and didn’t care about his mate or my mate. He was going to be mine.
My father of course knew what always happened when I didn’t get what I wanted so I was sure he would do all it took to get me the Lycan King.
You must wonder what happened whenever I didn’t get what I wanted, well, keep wondering.
“It’s okay. I will wait patiently.” He said, and I shifted the plate of cookies towards him.
“These are so you can wait longer.” I told him with a smile.
“I’m not really in the mood for eating. It’s fine.” He replied, and my eyes shifted around, looking for something to say. I needed to keep the conversation going if I wanted him to find me interesting. I also needed to make him comfortable with me.
“Um…” I was saying but then I spotted my father coming down the stairs, and I adjusted myself in my seat and signaled to him with my eyes pointing towards Lucien and he raised his brows in surprise understanding me perfectly.
He was going to be my Lycan King.
Mine and mine alone.
