"Why are you making me feel so bad? You should at least pretend to like the meal." He dropped the half-bitten waffle on the tray.

"There is no way I'd pretend, this is terrible! Did you empty a whole pack of sugar in it?" She mocked him.

Darwin placed his hand on his chin and smiled. "I thought I discovered a new talent, didn't know my wife would judge me this bad."

"So cooking is your new talent?" She asked, secretly poking fun at him.

"It would have been if you had given me some credits for cooking for you this morning."

Lena smiled when she noticed the apron was still tied around his neck. "You look so hot in that apron, but it's pink. White would have been hotter." She winked at him.

Darian felt a wave of embarrassment wash through him. How did he forget to pull off the apron before leaving the kitchen? He was in a hurry to get to the room, wake her and serve her the food.

He smiled, he was glad he achieved his aims even though she didn't quite appreciate his efforts.

"Thank you, Darian. This means so much to me, I will forever cherish this moment with you." She said to him, staring into his eyes. He smiled and nodded his head. "But I will have to teach you how to prepare all of these again, that would be next time though. For now, let's go to the kitchen to cook something better." She was about to get out of bed, but he held her down.

"Wait up," he hurried to the closet to get a small box. He strolled back to where she was and gave the small box that was designed with a purple ribbon to her. "Open it." He nudged her with his head.

Lena shook her head, the box trembling in her hands. She slowly opened up and saw a golden necklace shining brightly inside the pack.

"Darian?" Her jaw dropped.

"Is it too late to wish you a happy birthday?" He took the box from her, brought out the necklace, and gently wore it on her neck. His hand remained on her neck, unhurriedly soothing her collarbone. He touched her shoulders and looked up at her. "It's so beautiful on you and you are so beautiful, Lena." He pressed a long kiss to her forehead. Staring passionately into her eyes, he muttered. "Happy birthday to you. I might be the last to wish you, but I want you to know that mine is the most special."

Lena didn't utter a word. Different thoughts muddied up her mind as she stared at Darian. She had never felt that special in her entire life, she had never received a birthday gift that beautiful. She felt so emotional and tears slipped down her cheeks.

"Don't do that, Lena. Don't cry please." He wiped her tears with his fingers. "I don't like it when you cry."

"Darian, did you order this too?" She asked, referring to the necklace.

"I have always had it with me, I was just waiting for the perfect time to give it to you." He responded.

"Thank you so much, Darian. Thank you." She moved closer and buried her head in his shoulders.

He stroked her hair, planting soft kisses on her hair as he inhaled the sweet smell of her shampoo.

He let go of her, "I should compensate you for all this by cooking a delicious meal." She said.

"You don't have to," he shook his head in disapproval. "We are eating out today, I booked reservations at a restaurant."

"Darian," she said. "I wish things will get better between us, I wish we would get to understand each other better." She rested her head on his chest.

"You suggested that friendship idea, maybe we should try it again."

"Are you willing to give our friendship another chance?" She looked up at him.

"We should try again," Darian lifted her head. "Let's try again." He tilted her head to his side, cupping her cheeks in his hands, he smiled.

"Yes, I won't ruin it this time. I will try my best to make things work out between us." She said, feeling his hot breath fanning her skin.

He brushed his lips on hers. Her heart throbbed, she held him tighter.

"Do friends kiss each other?" He asked teasingly.

Lena didn't give a response to him. She bit her lips. When he didn't stop teasing her, she claimed his lips. Darian was surprised, he was just about to kiss her.

She let go of his lips, "Friends kiss each other sometimes too." She crashed her lips on his.

Darian smiled, he pinned her down and nibbled gently on her lips. They poured their emotions into the kiss, hungrily eating each other's lips. They stared into each other's eyes as if they were sealing a friendship deal with the kiss.

They breathed heavily, still not letting go of each other. Nothing else tasted better to them now, they wanted to drink from each other's lips all day.

Lena wrapped her arms around his neck, kissing him as hard as she could. He pinned her down with both hands, he trailed kisses down her neck and she moaned softly. She held tighter onto him, watching as he placed soft kisses on her neck. She shut her eyes and almost immediately pulled out of the kiss.

"What's wrong?" He asked her.

"I just remembered that I haven't brushed my teeth. Oh my gosh! Do I stink?" She asked, rolling out of the bed. "Oh no, don't tell me that I stink." She hurried into the bathroom before Darian could grab her.

She slammed the door behind her, and Darian laughed.

He knew she was crazy but he liked it, and deep down, he was pleased with himself for making her smile again.

He was glad she was back to the Lena he used to know.

This time, he was willing to do anything to always make her happy. Her happiness was gradually becoming his top priority.
