Chapter 49
Chapter 49
He looked apologetically at everyone and received the call.
I was alarmed at looked Hudson, who was looking at me with the same kind of expression and as if Levi understood what we were thinking. He clarified our doubts before attending the call.
"Don't worry this is a new number given by my nephew, no one can trace it, as it belongs to one of his friends."
I heaved a sigh of relief and looked a Levi who had gone near the window and was busy speaking to the caller.
"Godfather weren't you going to tell us about the place, where mom has kept her password hidden," I asked curiously.
"Patience Callie, let Levi finish up the call and then I will tell you. I think it's something urgent related to Jeremy ." Logan said flatly and looked in his brother's direction.
"Wasn't that your lawyer, who got killed because of the fire, which destroyed his house. I heard that even his wife died along with him and their corpse was not found, as the fire was very intense. The only thing they found was their bones." I whispered, as the thought of it gave me Goosebumps.
"They are alive Callie." Logan said softly.
I looked at him with a shocked expression.
Logan drank the glass of water on the table and explained. " We reached there on time and saved them. Their house was burnt down by the same people who killed your parents, Callie and Jerome had collected shreds of evidence that could release me from the prison and also put those cold-blooded people behind the bars, so they made it look like there was a short circuit at Jeremy house and burned his whole house down. They are sure that he is dead but little did they know that Jeremy is smarter than them. He came out of the secret passageway attached to the drain and escaped with his wife and luckily, we reached there on time to give them medical attention."
"Are they alright?" Hudson asked, as I was still in shock.
"They are fine just some mild injury but because their lungs were filled with smoke, they had to be kept under observation but now they have recovered." Logan exclaimed.
Levi had finished with his call and spoke hurriedly. " Logan we need to hurry, it was Davis on the phone. The woman we saved, has regained her consciousness and Davis was telling that he had seen Ray around his clinic and is not sure about his intention."
"What about Jeremy and his wife did they send them to a safe place? Because I think we are heading for bigger trouble now and so it's better we keep them safe, as they are the sole witness of their own attempted murder. And our friends might be really on the lookout for us or they wouldn't have loitered around Davis's clinic. They know we were best of friends, since our college days. So they might be thinking that he would be the first one, we would look out for. And then there is that woman!" Logan exclaimed softly. "Even, she had faced her death because of one of them. And they think that she is dead and if they found her in his clinic, he will be in deep trouble." Saying this Logan got up abruptly.
"Woahhhh....cool down big brother. I spoke to Red, he said they have shifted Jeremy and his wife to the senator's place, so no one's going to have any doubt as for that woman, we better hurry or they will kill her, if they know she is alive." Levi said flatly.
Logan was standing in his place, so even Levi got up ready to go.
Logan looked at Callie who was looking at him curiously and came and hugged her.
"Callie, no matter what happens. Just remember this Emy and Richard loved you and Jayden. If it would have been possible, they would have tried everything to be there for you and Jayden but things were not meant to be like that because of people's greed. I am always there for you and will protect you no matter what." Then he took out the chain Callie was wearing and smiled.
I looked at my godfather very curiously and whispered." What is it, Godfather?"
"This belonged to your mother Callie, where did you find it?"
I looked at the gold chain I was wearing and whispered. "Mom gave it to me the night she was murdered and told me to hide in the secret chamber. I always kept it thinking it as the last souvenir given to me by mom. So I never remove it as its very close to my heart."
"You see your mother was smarter than all those foolish people who killed her. And although it's too late, justice shall still prevail." Logan whispered.
Taking hold of the locket attached to the chain, Logan slid open the flip behind the locket, and there come out a piece of paper hidden inside it, after so many years.
Everyone in the room exclaimed.
Callie looked at the paper and then at her godfather.
Logan smiled and patted her back. "You go ahead and do what you need to do. Levi let's go."
Hudson got up and spoke. "Logan you need help, so you better take my men with you, as they will be handy."
Levi chuckled and said. " Don't worry Hudson, I think we need to tackle this ourselves, as we don't want to get any more people hurt and besides we have our bodyguards sent by our nephew, so don't worry. You take care of Callie and Jayden they need you."
After that, they walked out of the suite with Liam, who was instructed by Hudson to escort them down.
"Thank you, Hudson I intend to."
Jackson Harris started to receive the other guest. He did not have to be bothered about the food and drinks as his wife had probably had already hit all the important plans.
Callie had just used the bathroom and was coming out when she saw Stefanie William standing outside
"Hudson told me that you might be back here."
Callie took out her pad from the bag and wrote. "Were you looking for me?"
"Yes Callie, I need to talk to you in private for a moment," Steffanie said softly.
Steffanie William motioned her back into the study and then closed the door behind them. She was wearing a very simple dress with minimal makeup and a tasteful necklace. The dress made her skin seem even brighter. However she wore her hair down and the dark strands were strikingly against the white background. When she made the effort, Callie thought Steffanie William could be a very attractive woman. She had picked those ornaments with great care.
