"She was blessed with good genes. And when she was in the university she fell in love with your father and married secretly. I had graduated way ahead before your parents graduated, so I was technically in a much higher position when they both joined the CIA. Emily was very smart and so was your father and they climbed the ladder very easily without any contacts, as many cases which were just lying there meaningless was solved by them within six months."
"So they got promoted pretty fast and there were many people who were jealous of them and always tried to demotivate them"
"Among them would one of them be Henry Adams?" I asked curiously.
Logan looked at me with surprise and said. " How did you know about him?"
"Uncle Scott told me about his obsession for mom and had warned me to stay away from," I told him softly.
"Ahh...Scott how is he? He came to visit me once and I heard someone try to drive him down the lake but he was lucky that Jeremy , knew something was wrong and had helped him. He is a good man and Emily had taken him in when he was just a small kid when he had been abandoned by his parents. Emily had begged her father to send him to a good school with a hostel and had always been there for him as his guardian. Though she was still in her high school when she had found him, she never deserted him."
"Scott's only family was your mother and he lost her but he knew he had to take care of you and Jayden and the business, so when your grandma decided to make him the CEO that time he did not object. At least it was safer that way than to hand over the company to some bunch of losers. He had told me everything when he had come to meet me but I had advised him not to come back as it would be dangerous for him."
Tears were rolling down my cheeks and Hudson came and hugged me tightly. I did not know that uncle Scott had gone through so much, he had given half of his life to protect us and keep us safe.
"Callie my child, if only life would have been simple and the people were not greedy, your mother would still be alive. But sadly inevitable did happen and I blame myself for not being there to protect her." Logan whispered.
"But what's done is done, godfather, my mother won't come back, and nor will your beloved sister but we can't let the people who conspired everything goes on living there without any guilt. More murders are happening and women are living in fear of going out. We have to catch the main culprit as well as his friends." I said desperately.
"Callie, you need to know first why your mother was murdered in the first place?" Logan said softly.
I looked at him curiously and said softly." Wasn't it because she was about to give out the killer's name."
"No, my child there is more to it than what I have told. But first, tell me did you go to your mother's company?"
"Yes, I did today, as Jayden was going there before me but because of his accident yesterday, I had to go today for the board meeting."
"What !" Logan and Levi exclaimed together.
"What happened to him, Callie?" Logan asked.
I was a little hesitant, as I knew he would be worried but looking at his expression I was feeling guilty and told him about the whole incident.
"How is he now? I will go and meet him right away." Logan closed his eyes and whispered. " Oh Emily, I have failed as a godfather for your children. I can't even do anything to protect them. You must be so disappointed with me."
I held his hand as I did not want him to feel guilty about it, it was not his fault. I held his hand again and said. "He is fine god father, don't worry and Hudson had reached there on time and Jayden is trained in martial art, he can defend himself."
"But we are dealing with very ruthless men, Callie." Levi said softly.
Logan got up and held Hudson's hand. " Thank you, Hudson, for saving Jayden, your mother would have been proud of you, if she was still alive."
Hudson was taken aback and stared at Logan for some time in awkward silence. "You knew my mother Logan?"
"Yes, I knew her well as Emily had only one elder sister she always doted on and that was your mother," Logan said flatly.
Hudson and I were staring at Logan with a confused expression.
"Oh, I know you have a lot of questions popping up in your head and I will tell you but first you tell me Callie did Scott tell you anything specific when you went to the office?" Logan asked pointedly.
I tried to think hard and said. " Not that I remember but I did attend the board meeting as they had many queries and then I had gone to mom's office. And oh, yeah I remember, uncle Scott had shown me mom's email Id which had not been used after she passed away as no one knew the password. He told me to try logging in but I couldn't. He had even tried the professional hacker but still, they couldn't open it."
Logan laughed out loud and said." Your mother was the best password keeper, no one could beat her and I know where exactly she hid her password. And no wonder they all wanted me to die. As I knew Emily's every secret and could crack it very easily and they would be exposed."
There was an intense silence in the room and everyone was busy staring at Logan waiting for him to continue with the secret he was about to tell everyone.
And Logan was looking at everyone very curiously and had a smile on his face. He knew that the secret he was about to reveal would bring out the hidden truth.
Suddenly in between the intense silence Levi's phone started ringing.
