Accidentally Slept With The Ruthless Billionaire

Chapter 547: A Lawyer Who Lied Under Oath

Chapter 547: A Lawyer Who Lied Under Oath

For years, Brady had been grieving Everleigh. The pain Rachel was about to feel was nothing compared to the emptiness he carried. It was nothing compared to what Everleigh went through before she died.

Brady needed Rachel to suffer. It was the least she could pay for all the pain she had caused him. Keeping his expression calm, he looked at Hughes and asked, “Is there any medicine that can keep her awake in her final moments? I want to say goodbye to my wife properly.”

Hughes’s hand shook slightly as he pulled out the drug that would do just that. Even though he had taken Brady’s bribe, he still couldn’t understand why this woman deserved such cruelty.

He cleared his throat and said, “Yes. But it will only keep her awake for a short while. And… it’ll cause her a lot of pain.”

“What are you waiting for?” Brady snarled. He shot a sharp look at Hughes, who was still hesitating. “You’re getting paid. Backing out now won’t do you any good.”

Rachel was suffering because of both Hughes and Brady.

In the end, though clearly bothered, Hughes gave her the injection.

Not long after, Rachel woke up, completely overwhelmed by pain. She grabbed her head as stabbing aches shot through her temples. Sweat ran down her face. It felt like burning metal was digging into her skull, twisting through her mind.

“It hurts, Brady… it hurts so much…” she cried, falling from the bed and crawling toward him.

Brady glanced at the nearby camera and gave a quick smirk. Then he put on a fake look of worry and kindness. He bent down, helped Rachel off the floor, and spoke in a soft voice that didn’t match his words at all.

“Don’t be scared, Rachel. This is just the beginning. It’s going to hurt even more just like the pain I felt when I lost Everleigh.”

Hughes couldn’t bear to keep watching the screen. He started gathering his things to leave. The cameras didn’t record sound, and with the drugs in Rachel’s system, everyone would think she had taken her own life.

Rachel’s eyes went wide the moment she heard Everleigh’s name come from Brady’s lips. “What… what do you mean?” she asked, using all her strength just to get the words out.

“What do I mean?” Brady chuckled. “You really thought I loved you? I never did. I’ve been faking it this whole time. The only one I’ve ever loved is Everleigh. And now, I’m going to do to you what you did to her. It’s time you paid for it.”

Brady laid Rachel back on the bed and fastened the hospital straps around her to keep her from moving.

Rachel’s eyes widened in shock. Red veins filled her eyes, and tears streamed down her face. It was hard to tell if they were from the pain or from the cruel truth she had just heard.

She couldn’t speak anymore. She couldn’t even look at the man she had loved her whole life. When she opened her eyes, the room spun. When she tried to talk, it felt like fire was crawling through her body. Every memory she tried to reach only dragged her deeper into darkness. Now, she was the one falling apart.

Her body trembled from the pain, but it was Brady’s words that crushed her the most. She had no idea he knew what really happened. She never imagined the man she had shared her life with would be the one to wish her dead.

But why? What had she done to deserve this? All she ever wanted was for the man she loved to be hers and hers alone.

A deep sense of regret hit Rachel. Because of Brady, she had hurt so many people including her nephew, Dave.

If she hadn’t brought Dave back into the Evans family, would things have turned out differently? If she had chosen to help him instead of protecting Brady, would he have still pushed her away? By keeping her distance from the Evans family just to make Brady happy, maybe her father never even realized how sick she really was...

Brady was right. Maybe this was what she deserved.

But more than anything, Rachel regretted what happened with Dave.

She didn’t know what she would say if her family were standing in front of her now.

Tears slipped from the corners of Rachel’s eyes as she slowly closed them.

Brady rushed to call the doctors, but it was too late as her heart had already stopped.

Blood dripped from her mouth. She had bitten her tongue to stop the pain.

Brady felt nothing as he looked at her. “I thought you might try to break free and jump out the window.”

He had opened the windows wide when he entered the room. There was nothing there to stop someone from opening them wide to jump down.

“This is too good for you.”

Brady turned and walked out, knowing the news of Rachel’s death would spread quickly.

He chose this moment because he was sure he could crush the Evans Group. This was the day he had planned for all these years.

Soon, the Evans family would be too busy dealing with their own problems to bother with the Lawson Group.

After leaving the hospital, Brady lightly patted his face, calming himself down. He had won, and he wasn’t done yet. He was ready to push things even further.

Brady contacted his team and told them to keep spreading negative stories. The focus needed to stay on Phoenix Alliance Group’s so-called problems.

“Boss, something happened,” one of his men said over the phone. “The Phoenix Alliance Group news isn’t trending anymore. Now everyone’s talking about a lawyer who lied under oath!”

Brady’s face darkened. He knew Dave wouldn’t just sit and wait for everything to fall apart. He had clearly made a move.

But what exactly was happening?

“What kind of lawyer gets more attention than the Phoenix Alliance Group’s situation?” Brady asked.

“Boss, take a look yourself. It’s Reece Barton, the famous lawyer from Edenfield. He admitted everything in public. It’s causing a huge stir. Right now, we can’t drown it out. What should we do?”

“Raise the funds,” Brady snapped, ending the call. He opened Twitter, narrowed his eyes, and started thinking about Bianca’s case.

Reece’s sudden confession was clearly meant to shift focus away from Phoenix Alliance Group. But how could a lawyer, who framed Bianca, be helping the company now? Reece was going to prison. He’d lose his license. So what did Dave offer him in return?

“Just a small bump in the road,” Brady muttered, pulling himself together. The public battle hadn’t gone the way he expected. Instead, the other side had turned Reece’s scandal into a weapon.

But this business war wasn’t just about public opinion. Brady had poured a massive amount of money into it.
