Chapter 531: Wyatt Is Alive
Chapter 531: Wyatt Is Alive
The moonlight coming through the window lit up Dave’s face.
She looked at him and smiled softly.
“I still remember those thousands of lanterns,” she said, her eyes shining. “Since then, I haven’t been afraid of the dark.”
That moment had changed everything for her.
Dave looked at her, surprised.
“Why are you here?” he asked.
This was the place he came to when he needed space. He never thought she’d show up.
Bianca gave him a playful smile.
“Maybe it’s that sixth sense people talk about,” she said. “Something just pulled me here tonight. Who would’ve guessed you’d be hiding in the dark?”
Her words lightened the burden in Dave’s chest.
He finally smiled and felt relieved.
Seeing him like that made Bianca feel warm inside.
In a gentle voice, she asked, “I saw the news today. Are you okay?”
Even though Bianca told Diana she wasn’t worried, deep down, she still cared about Dave.
The wind lifted the curtains. Moonlight fell on the man standing nearby.
Dave’s eyes turned gloomy. Bianca’s words seemed to hit a soft spot in him. He pulled her closer and gently rubbed his cheek against hers. He looked like a lonely leon trying to feel safe in his owner’s arms.
People usually saw Dave as calm and firm. But he had a fragile side too.
He only showed that side when he was with Bianca. And it only happened during quiet, rare moments like this.
"I'm really tired," he said in a rough and low voice.
Hearing that made Bianca’s chest tighten. It hurt to see him like this. Even superheroes needed rest sometimes. But Dave had always seemed like he never ran out of strength. That was just his way of hiding how fragile he really was inside.
"I'm sorry," Bianca said softly. Her anger had already faded. She gently told him why she had pawned the necklace.
"I know I should’ve told you first. But honestly, I didn’t want you to worry," she said, wrapping her arms around him tightly. "Since the day we got together, I stopped feeling alone. I didn’t have to carry everything by myself anymore. And you don’t have to either. Whatever happens, I’m here. I’ve got your back."
She meant every word. She was ready to be his strength.
This was what Bianca had been working toward for a long time.
Life came with ups and downs. Nothing ever stayed perfect forever. The only way to get through it all was by standing together.
Dave was silent for a moment. Her words touched him deeply. He didn’t care about the wealth or power of the Evans Group anymore. What mattered most was her. She was the one he wanted by his side, always.
"I was wrong too," Dave said in a low voice. "I knew you had your reasons for pawning the necklace. But something happened earlier... and I couldn’t control my emotions."
"What happened?" Bianca asked quickly as her eyes filled with worry.
Dave didn’t speak right away. He took a slow breath and finally said, “It’s about Wyatt. Something happened to him.”
Bianca’s eyes widened. “What happened to Wyatt?”
“He went overseas to handle something for me,” Dave replied in a rough voice. “But his plane crashed on the way back. We looked into it. It wasn’t an accident. Someone planned it.”
He paused before adding, “The one behind it is my grandfather.”
Bianca was utterly shocked after hearing it. “What?! How is that even possible?”
“I was afraid he might come after you too,” Dave quickly explained. “That’s why I had someone watch over you. I wasn’t trying to spy on you, Bianca. I just wanted to keep you safe.”
Bianca was still trying to process everything. She never thought Lucas could do something so cruel to Wyatt.
Right now, no one knew where Zane was. Wyatt’s condition was still unclear. The two people Dave trusted most had both gotten into trouble, one after the other.
Bianca could only imagine how broken he must feel.
She deeply regretted not being honest from the start. It caused so many misunderstandings. And she wasn’t there when he needed her the most.
“He’s going to act soon,” Dave said. “So I’ve arranged for someone to stay by your side and protect you. I won’t let anything happen to you.”
To him, Bianca was someone he would never let anyone hurt.
Even though Bianca was scared, she didn’t show it. She held Dave’s face in her hands and nodded firmly.
“I’ll be careful,” she said. “You don’t have to worry about me. But you’ve completely left the Evans Group. There must be a lot you still need to handle. And I’m sure the Evans Group won’t let Phoenix Alliance Group go easily. That’s what worries me.”
“Don’t worry. I’ll take care of everything,” Dave said quickly.
Bianca trusted him, so she didn’t ask anymore.
But just then, Dave’s phone rang. The sound cut sharply through the quiet night. He pulled it out right away. There was no name, just an unknown number on the screen.
Dave stepped away and answered the call.
“Boss, it’s me.”
The voice made Dave freeze. His eyes widened in surprise. “Wyatt? Is that really you?”
A wave of relief rushed through him. Wyatt was alive and calling from a number he didn’t recognize. Dave quickly asked what had happened.
“I got out just in time,” Wyatt said. “I noticed something strange the moment I got on the plane.” He paused, thinking back on the details.
“I’m not sure when my phone was tampered with,” Wyatt said. “But I found a tracker and some weird software on it. I checked the system files and saw signs that someone had been spying on me. Most people wouldn’t notice it. But I’m not just anyone.”
Dave, knowing Wyatt’s background, quickly understood. “So you left your phone on the plane and got off?”
Wyatt let out a sigh. “I didn’t really think it through at the time. I just didn’t want anyone tracking me. I never thought someone would go as far as crashing the whole plane. I escaped… but the other passengers…”
He clenched his jaw before speaking again. “After I heard about the crash, I quickly hid. I didn’t call you because I wanted everyone to believe I was dead. That way, I could look into who was behind it. The person who planned this was cruel but sloppy. They left plenty of clues. I followed them and finally found out who did it.”
Dave didn’t say anything. He already knew that his grandfather was behind everything.
“It was Rupert. He’s the one behind it!”
