Chapter 530: Are You Being Hunted?
Chapter 530: Are You Being Hunted?
“Some people said the Evans Group was already losing control of Phoenix Alliance Group. I thought it was just gossip, but now it looks like it was true.”
“Wait, seriously? This was just announced today, right?”
“Yeah, people in the industry had been talking about it. Before today, Dave still had shares in the Evans Group. But now he’s pulled out and made it official. His intention is clear.”
“He’s clearly serious about leaving the Evans Group. Looks like there’s no turning back for him.”
“To me, this split feels sudden, but it also makes sense. There’s probably something going on inside the Evans Group. Maybe this was a smart move to avoid future problems.”
Some rumors even said that the Evans Group was facing major financial trouble.
But the company’s PR team quickly denied all of it.

Meanwhile, Bianca showed up at work with dark circles under her eyes.
Bianca hadn’t slept well. She and Dave had a fight last night. She kept taking deep breaths, trying to calm herself.
Dave had sent two bodyguards to watch her. They waited outside all night.
In the morning, they followed her to work.
When she asked them what they wanted, they didn’t say a word.
At the company entrance, Bianca swiped her card to go in.
The two men tried to follow her inside, but the receptionist stepped in and blocked them.
“Sorry, this is a restricted area. You need an appointment to enter…”
The bodyguards looked intimidating. The receptionist hesitated and glanced at Bianca for instruction.
The bodyguards also turned to look at Bianca.
All three of them stared at her in silence.
After a moment, Bianca let out a sigh.
“Let them in,” she said.
She knew they were just doing their job.
All of this was because of Dave.
Inside Bianca’s office, the bodyguards stood by the door. One on the left, the other on the right.
When Diana showed up, she froze at the sight.
She looked at them carefully, making sure she was in the right place.
Then, under their cold stares, she knocked on the door.
Once she entered the room, she let out a deep breath.
“Bianca, I seriously thought I walked into the wrong office. Who are those guys outside?”
Bianca gave a tired smile and rolled her eyes.
“They’re my bodyguards.”
“What? Bodyguards?” Diana looked confused. She couldn’t understand why Bianca needed two scary-looking men following her around.
Then it hit her. Bianca must be in some kind of trouble.
As her best friend, Diana quickly leaned in, worried.
“Are you being hunted or something?”
Bianca had a bitter look on her face. She didn’t know how to answer Diana’s question.
She knew what Diana must be thinking. Her friend probably believed she had gotten herself into trouble.
To Diana, it seemed like Bianca was hiding something serious. Maybe she didn’t want to drag her into it.
Bianca didn’t explain. She quickly changed the topic.
“What do you want from me, Diana?”
Diana did have something important to say.
She walked closer to her and shared the shocking news.
“Don’t you know? Phoenix Alliance Group just cut ties from the Evans Group.”
Bianca’s expression shifted.
She hadn’t slept well last night and hadn’t seen the news.
Dave’s decision surprised her.
“Dave really cut all ties with the Evans Group. I saw online there’s chaos in the company. Do you know anything, Bianca?”
Diana couldn’t shake the feeling that something was off.
It was strange. Right after Dave made the announcement, two bodyguards showed up at Bianca’s office.
Was it connected? She didn’t know what to think.
Bianca took Diana’s phone and began scrolling through the news.
There were all kinds of headlines and rumors.
She recalled how strange Dave had acted last night.
A sharp feeling hit her.
Maybe that outburst wasn’t random. Maybe it had something to do with this big move.
“To be honest, I don’t know much,” Bianca said.
“No matter what he does or what happens with the Evans Group, I’ll support him.”
Bianca said with a serious tone. There was no turning back now. She had made up her mind to stand by Dave’s side.
Diana was stunned after hearing Bianca's words. She didn’t know what to say. All she could do was let out a long sigh.
The news online had overwhelmed Bianca drastically. She couldn’t stop thinking about it. Maybe she was overthinking.
Even though they were no longer together, she and Dave still loved each other deeply.
“What are those bodyguards really protecting her from?” Diana wondered silently.
The day before had been a mess.
Lucas had collapsed, coughed up blood, and fell into a coma.
With him out of the picture, Rupert acted fast. He took over the company and sold all of Dave’s shares.
Just like that, Dave was cut off from the Evans Group.
In the chairman’s office, Rupert slowly ran his hand over the leather chair.
A small smile formed on his face. In his mind, this seat already belongs to him.
It had been a long, busy day for Bianca. When it was finally time to leave work, she checked the clock.
The two bodyguards had spent the whole day watching over her. One of them was always nearby.
As she walked down the stairs her mind drifted back to the news. She felt worried about Dave.
But then she remembered how he had people watching her. That thought made her angry. She tried to call him but changed her mind.
Instead, she drove around with no clear destination. She eventually stopped at the Waterfront Apartments.
She looked up at one of the windows. It was dark. That told her Dave wasn’t there.
She parked the car and walked to the door by herself.
It was the first time the bodyguards didn’t follow her.
She looked around but couldn’t see them. They were hiding in the dark.
She unlocked the door and walked into the pitch-black room without a second thought.
She flipped the light switch, but nothing happened.
“Why isn’t the light working?” she muttered. The power seemed to be broken.
She let out a frustrated sigh and turned to leave. But then she heard soft footsteps behind her.
Before she could react, strong arms wrapped around her waist and pulled her close.
Her nerves relaxed the moment she caught the familiar scent.
It was him. Dave.
No matter what he did or where he stood with the Evans Group, it was still him.
“Still afraid of the dark?” Dave’s deep voice broke the silence.
Bianca shook her head and turned to face him.
