Revenge with My Quadruplets

Chapter 142

Chapter 142

On this day, in the restaurant, Charlotte and Kingsley were sitting together in a private booth, waiting for their dishes to arrive.

Kingsley had his laptop with him and was currently tapping away at the keyboard, working diligently.

"Kingsley, what are you working on?" Charlotte asked. He always seemed to be busy and hardly ever had any personal time.

"Some work with the Livingston Group, and..." Kingsley paused and gave a low chuckle, "some work with my future brother-in-law."

"Huh?" Charlotte's eyes widened in response. "You mean..."

"Yes, your brother." Kingsley's expression showed a mix of helplessness and admiration as he said, "The Livingston family and the Scott family originally had some business dealings, and before, my sister handled them all. But lately, your brother's frequent interactions with the Livingston Group seem to be testing something, so my sister handed this piece of business to me."

"Does my brother know about us being together?" Charlotte asked with concern.

"I don't think so, but he definitely has some lingering suspicions," Kingsley replied. "Last time in Germied, although I set up some traps to divert your brother's tracking, Ian is really a cyber genius, and he still found traces of the Livingston family."

Charlotte looked worried and wrinkled her nose. "What then? If they find out about us, they will definitely object."

Not to mention how strict her brothers were in their control over her, just given Kingsley's health condition, they would undoubtedly disapprove of her relationship with him.

Just thinking about all this made Charlotte's head ache and her emotions inexplicably irritated.

"Don't panic, I'm here," Kingsley said, pinching her nose affectionately.

Charlotte's mood had just begun to relax when Kingsley's cell phone suddenly rang.

Glancing at the screen, Charlotte's face changed slightly. The caller ID indicated it was a call from Chris.

Kingsley was ready to pick it up, but Charlotte held his hand and said, "Don't answer it." Her gaze was pitiful, and she looked afraid.

Kingsley was a little amused.

He rubbed Charlotte's hair and soothed her, "Don't worry, we're just talking about the project; we won't discuss anything else."

Hearing this, Charlotte relaxed a bit.

She didn't stop again but just stared at him earnestly from the sidelines, her eyes careful and tinged with worry.

Kingsley saw this, and instead of answering the phone, he dropped it and stepped forward to gather her in his arms.

"I know what you're worried about. Don't be afraid; I'll take care of everything. You shouldn't have to carry all this stress." He kissed the top of her head heartily, his deep eyes filled with a steely determination.

Originally, he hadn't thought of being with her, so Kingsley had been avoiding the Scott family. Now, things had long since departed from the original expectation and trajectory. He would take the initiative to contact the Scott family and convince them, one by one, to feel at ease in giving her to him.

Charlotte leaned into his arms, feeling his warm body heat. The irritation and worry in her heart seemed to be slowly smoothing out. She raised her eyes to look at him, her brilliant star-like eyes filled with surprise. "Aren't you even afraid of my brothers? Especially Chris."

"I'm not afraid," Kingsley said. "To me, he's just your family, family that truly loves you."

Listening to Kingsley's words, Charlotte's eyes softened, and her heart warmed.

"Thank you," she said.

The cell phone rang for a while and then stopped. Seeing Charlotte's mood change, Kingsley teased, "Baby, can I call my future brother-in-law back now?"

Charlotte nodded with a small blush.

In the restaurant's private room, Kingsley was rapidly tapping on his computer keyboard, creating a rhythmic sound.

Charlotte watched him intently as he worked, not wanting to bother him. Humming a little song, she took out her own cell phone and began to browse the web.

Suddenly, she received a message. She clicked on it and her face immediately darkened slightly. It was from Ben, urging her to make a decision. [Have you thought about it? Do you want to leave Kingsley and be with me?]

The message was followed by a bunch of pictures detailing the wealth and power of his family, the Mendel family, and the benefits he could bring to Charlotte.

The corners of Charlotte's mouth twitched slightly, and she was speechless.

Not to mention how much the Scott Group gave every year, just the pocket money and gifts her siblings gave her on her birthday every year would be more than all of the Mendel family's assets combined.

Ben was really out of his mind.

Charlotte pursed her lips.

Charlotte forwarded all the messages Ben had sent her to Aaron.

She did not elaborate, only said, "Aaron, this is the classmate who is stalking me."

At this time, Aaron was returning from the laboratory, just walking through the door of his home. As soon as he saw Charlotte's message, he immediately burned with anger.

Fueled by this rage, he used his power to start seizing the Mendel family's projects and resources. Within half an hour, his subordinates called to report that the Mendel family's stock had plummeted.

Aaron then found Ben's private number and sent a warning message: [If you dare to pester Charlotte again, the result will not just be a stock plunge.]

Meanwhile, the Mendel family was in a state of panic.

The shareholders were gathered outside, blaming the company's stock drop. Mr. Mendel was huddled in his study with his assistants and secretaries, all at their wits' end.

They couldn't figure out why, in just half an hour, the company had suffered such heavy losses, losing numerous orders and project partners. To make matters worse, a scandal involving the boss had been exposed, causing the company's stock to plummet further and the family to lose a significant portion of their wealth.

In the midst of the chaos, Ben sat restlessly in the living room, staring at the threatening text message on his phone, his eyes red. [If you dare to pester Charlotte again, the result will not just be a stock plunge.]

The anonymous message, coupled with the company's sudden downfall, convinced him that this was all related to Charlotte. She was the only person he had been bothering, and she had certainly retaliated in a big way.

But who was behind her? Kingsley? Would Kingsley really use the Livingston family's power to attack the Mendel family over a woman with no significant influence?

Ben couldn't believe that Charlotte had managed to captivate Kingsley so completely. If he had known this, he would never have dared to threaten her, avoiding the catastrophic consequences for his family.

Desperate, Ben hastily took out his phone and dialed a number.

"You told me to threaten Charlotte with those photos, but now Kingsley has retaliated! Our family's company is losing a lot of money right now. You have to come up with a solution for me!"

"What's your hurry?" came a female voice on the other end of the line, her tone leisurely and unhurried. "Didn't Charlotte promise to leave Kingsley and ask for a night to think about it? Why don't you send Kingsley a recording of your conversation with her? I'm sure that would take care of your immediate problem very quickly."
