Chapter 33
Chapter 33
Emily couldn't take it anymore. Louise finished the rest and complained, "I have to work out for one extra hour today!"
At first, Louise wanted to take Diane and Chris out to have some fun, but they hadn't seen Emily for the whole morning and only wanted to stay with Emily. Thus, Louise went to the gym alone.
"After I finish exercising, I can eat more tonight." Louise waved her fist and fought for the sake of nice food.
"Mommy, let us stay here with you." Diane shook Emily's finger.
"Mommy, we will be quiet," Chris promised.
Emily surrendered when she saw the eagerness in their eyes.
"Then let's make it clear first. Only for this time." Emily compromised.
Emily was busy with her work. Chris and Diane sat on the sofa and looked at her quietly. Perhaps because the sunlight was warm or they were relaxed when they were with their mother, they soon fell asleep.
When Emily finished her work and looked up, she saw two angelic sleeping faces, and her heart softened. She took off Chris's and Diane's shoes and let them lie comfortably on the sofa. Then, she covered them with her coat.
They woke up at sunset.
Diane blinked her big eyes. She was a little confused. Where was she?
"Diane, are you awake?" Emily was amused by Diane's confused look and asked as she stroked Diane's hair.
"Mommy," Diane sobered up as she saw Emily.
"I don't want to move," Diane said, throwing herself into Emily's arms.
Chris rubbed his eyes and said, "We are at Mommy's office." He sobered up faster than Diane.
Then, he wrapped his arms around Emily's neck and rubbed his head against her.
"Drink some water first. I'll be done with work in a while." Emily gently pushed her two children away.
She had to finish her work earlier today. Chris and Diane had been waiting for her for the entire afternoon, and she felt sorry for them.
"You guys have done a good job today. Let's go out for dinner, okay?" Emily suggested.
Chris and Diane had no objections. They were happy as long as their mother was with them.
"Chris, pick a nice restaurant. There will be many people, so we can check out who is suitable to be our daddy." Diane covered her mouth and whispered into Chris' ear.
Chris was tickled by Diane. He rubbed his ears and looked at Emily. Confirming that Emily didn't notice them, he said in Diane's ear, "That's a good idea. Let's find the best daddy so that Mommy won't have to work so hard."
They looked at each other and nodded. This way, they could enjoy their daddy's embrace in the future.
Done with work, Emily saw them whispering. "What are you guys talking about?"
"This is our secret, Mommy," Diane said solemnly.
"You can't even tell me?" Emily asked curiously.
"That's right. Only Diane and I know it." Chris nodded.
It seemed that Diane and Chris began to have their secrets. Emily shook her head helplessly.
"Have you thought of what to eat for dinner?" Emily asked.
"Yes." Diane showed the phone to Emily. "We chose this restaurant."
Emily took the phone and found that it was a high-end restaurant and the children's food there was famous.
"Well, good choice," Emily said gently.
"Mommy, you should eat on time every day," Chris suddenly said.
Emily knew that what had happened today reminded Chris of her stomach ache.
"Mommy. Chris and I eat on time every day. You should do the same," Diane said, holding Emily's hand.
"Alright, I'll listen to you," Emily was moved.
Chris and Diane were satisfied.
Emily brought them downstairs and they received the fondness of many employees along the way.
Emily opened the car door and helped the two little guys fasten their seat belts. Then, she got into the car and was ready to drive.
"Mommy," Diane called out to Emily.
"What's the matter?" Emily turned around.
"Do you like this place very much?" Diane tilted her head and asked curiously.
Emily paused. Diane's question stunned her.
She had been in this city since she was born, and most of her memories were there. What happened five years ago was the greatest pain in her life, but because of Chris and Diane, she turned her pain into happiness.
No matter what she experienced in this city, it was a part of her life. Moreover, Bennett was once here too, so she wanted to come back.
"Yes, I like it. I was born here, and my father was here too. Why do you ask so?" Emily asked Diane.
"I like it too. After you came here, you smiled more often. There are also many people I like, such as Louise, Teresa, Aaron, and Ian." Diane counted with her fingers.
"Mommy, this is your home and also our home, so I like it very much," Chris said loudly.
Emily was surprised by their words. She wiped the corners of her eyes with her finger and drove to the restaurant.
When they arrived at the restaurant, it was already dark. Emily parked the car and brought Chris and Diane to the table they had booked in advance.
Emily handed the menu to Chris. Chris was familiar with ordering food, and Diane sat by his side.
Soon, Chris ordered the meal.
Diane was active. She could not sit still and moved about in the chair. Suddenly, she pointed in a direction.
"Mommy, Chris, it's Ian and Aaron!" Diane said happily. She liked Ian and Aaron very much.
Emily and Chris looked in the direction she pointed.
Today, Ian no longer had a fever. But he still looked haggard and pitiful. To make him happy, Derek brought him and Aaron out for dinner.
The children's meals in this restaurant were famous. Derek wanted Ian to eat more so that he could recover soon.
Before he left, for some reason, he recalled Rose's words. After hesitating for a while, he asked Charlie to call Rose.
Rose was happy to receive Charlie's call. Hearing that it was Derek who asked her to have dinner with Ian and Aaron, she immediately agreed. Derek was finally willing to give Rose a chance to get along with them, and Rose had been looking forward to it.
Derek knew that she didn't really mean it. Since Rose was Ian and Aaron's mother, and she was willing to get close to them, Derek did not refuse her.
He was clear that Rose was just quibbling the last time. However, he could not help but think of Ian's unconscious talk in sleep and Aaron's condition. At this point, Rose's words had a certain effect on him.
Derek told Aaron and Ian about that. Ian was unhappy. He did not know his sleep talk had affected Derek. He only knew now that Rose would ruin his dinner with his father and Aaron.
