On The Border - Marry Him Or Die

Jenny’s POV

“Aren’t you going to invite me in Jenny?” says Simon with a slight smile.

Bile rises in my throat, and my stomach turns when he called me Jenny, like we’re fucking close!

“No actually I’m not, Simon. What are you doing here anyway?” I say coldly.

Judging by his lack of surprise when I opened the door instead of my mother, indicated that he was watching the house, and saw me the instant I walked in.

That caused the hair on my arms to stand.

His playful smile drops as he speaks seriously “I need to talk to you”

I snap at him “I have absolutely nothing to talk to you about”

As I proceed to close the door in his face, he puts his hand against it and pushes his way inside.

“What the hell Simon? get out!“ I yell at him while still standing at the opened door, as he rudely limps his way inside with a crutch, totally ignoring me.

I followed him inside and slammed the door behind me.

He enters into the living room, sits down on one of the couches, and I follow behind. I stand on the other side and look down at him. My mom joins me and stands next to me.

She doesn’t like Simon as much as I do.

“What do you want to talk about Simon?” I asked impatiently.

I need him gone before Megan gets here.

“I want to talk about ending the Snows once and for all. And I need your help with that” he said seriously.

His tone was too determinative, it made my heart beat faster.

“End them how?” I found myself asking instantly.

“Kill them, every last one of them”

“Yeah, you’ve all tried that before, look where it got me” I said intensely.

He looks gravelly at me “Look I had no idea what my father was up to with Alex Snow. I had no clue that he was going to force you into this, if I had known I would have never allowed that to happen”

I inspected him closely. He meant every word, but I still found a hidden meaning I couldn’t identify.

“All that doesn’t matter anymore. I know about their agreement. If you do anything to harm any of them, I will be the one paying the price here. You will throw me under the bus”

He shakes his head and says “It won’t get to that… if you agree to work with me to end them”

“Work with you how?”

“Find out all of their smuggling plans, dates, times, products smuggled each time, all their precautions and road routes. Basically spy for us and get back to me with what you discover. It’s easy because you live with them now. You can listen to everything”

I huff sarcastically.

A freaking spy!

Something else gets stuck in my head.

“Who’s us? Who’s working with you to end them?”

He gives me a sly smile and says mysteriously “An ally on the outside. That’s all you need to know for now. Are you in?”

Oh I know exactly who that ally is.

It’s that drug lord, whatever his name was.

Simon was playing with fire, a very contagious fire. A fire that will burn me first before anyone else.

If Alex gets even a whiff of this…. I can’t even imagine what he’ll do to me.

“I think I’ll pass on the offer, are we done?“ I said firmly.

He looks a little disappointed but he carries on trying to get me on board with this suicide plan of his.

“Look, I know how much you despise them, after what they’ve done to your father”

I resist the urge to roll my eyes.

More like grateful for what they’ve done to my father, but yeah despise is still the more dominant feeling.

He carries on “I know that you want nothing more than to get out of that marriage if you have the chance and you are willing to do anything not to have to be a hostage in their house for the rest of your life. I will stand with you, I will help you Jenny, you are my uncle’s responsibility and I will do everything in my power to keep you safe. You may not know this, but I truly care about you”

My stomach rolled viciously at hearing those words.

As alluring as it is to agree to this, just for the sole reason of getting out of that marriage, it wasn’t going to happen.

I’m not a spy, I’m not a back stabber, I’m not a traitor.

I’m not my fucking father.

Despite my hate and fear of the brothers, I would never stoop to such levels.

If I intend to gain control of my own life, and set myself free of that hell, I’ll do it on my own rules, without causing harm to anyone.

I look at him sternly “Look Simon, I’m only going to say this once and after that you will get up and leave this house. My answer is no, I will not help you with anything. I will not spy for you. And I do not want nor need your help to get me out of this marriage. I suggest you honor the deal with the Snows and sever all ties with that ally of yours because this will only lead to one thing and one thing only, my own demise. Now please leave”

He appraises me a while before saying “So you’re basically saying that you want to stay with Alex Snow, let him torment you and do whatever he wants to you for the rest of your life? You want to be a Snow from now on?“

“Simon!” my mom intervenes for the first time and warns him “My daughter gave you her answer. Don’t push your luck any further”

“Let her say it first, let her say she wants to be touched by that asshole, that she wants to be with him for the res…”

My hold on myself breaks wide open at hearing those words as I shout at him furiously “You either get out of this house on your own right now, or I swear I will call Alex to come drag you out of here, get out Simon”

I was totally bluffing and saying stupid things now.

I neither have his phone number or have any intent to call for his help, but Simon put his hand on a very sour subject and drove me out of control.

He gets up and faces me furiously “You want Alex to protect you from me now? I should be the one you come to for help not him! I care about you while he will only destroy you and get you killed someday!”

I can’t believe this is happening right now.

I grab a hold of his leather jacket and practically drag him out of the house while he continues to scream the same rubbish to me.

I open the front door and push him out as I shout at the top of my lungs “Get out! get out and don’t ever come near me again Simon, ever!“

He shouts back “This isn’t over yet, do you hear me? It’s not over”

I don’t bother replying anymore.

I see Megan standing near the door with wide eyes at the scene taking place in front of her.

I grab her inside and slam the door shut with all my might.

Alex’s POV

I was just done explaining our intended route for the upcoming smuggling operation to all of our men, including their positions and the contingency plan in case things went south.

They all dispersed after that leaving me alone in the office of our warehouse.

My phone rings at that moment.

It was Mathew, I had him positioned discreetly at Patrick Walker’s house before I dropped Jennifer off.

I wanted to know if she was up to something behind my back.

I didn’t trust her at all, she was her father’s daughter after all.

“Talk to me Mathew”

“As soon as you dropped her off, Simon Walker came over two minutes later”

I close my eyes and shake my head “Why am I not surprised by that?”

“Well Jennifer was. She was smiling wildly when she opened the door but as soon as she saw Simon, her face dropped, it wasn’t the person she was obviously expecting. She tried to slam the door in his face but he pushed his way inside despite her yelling at him to get out”

I raised my eyebrows at that. Well, unexpected of her. I figured she would be close with her cousin. Then again, he was an intolerable ass, that might have something to do with it.

“What happened then?”

“They stayed inside for like five minutes, before I heard her yelling from inside as she dragged him out of the house by his jacket yelling at him to get out and never come near her again, she was pretty angry at whatever he said to her. Simon was yelling too, saying this isn’t over yet. At that moment a young girl arrived at her front door. Jennifer grabbed her inside and shut the door furiously, while Simon drove away pretty annoyed and breathing fire”

“Do you know who the girl is?”

“She seemed to be Jennifer’s friend, same age, it’s Victor Cullen’s daughter. I don’t know her name though. She stayed in there for half an hour then left. It’s just Jennifer and her mom now”

I look at my watch, it’s been an hour and a half since I dropped her off. I think that’s enough freedom for today.

“Wait five minutes then park the car in front of her house and bang the horn once, I’ll call her to get ready. Call me if you notice anything weird in her behavior during the drive home or if she asks you anything”

“I got it”

I hung up the phone and went through my contacts until I found ‘Jennifer’ then pressed call.

She answers on the third ring.

“Hello?“

“It’s Alex. I’m a little busy to take you back so I sent Mathew instead. He’ll be there in five minutes”

“Ok”

I hung up the phone without saying anything else.

I put the phone on the desk and lean back in my chair.

What the hell did Simon say to her that got her yelling like that?

What did he mean by this isn’t over yet?

There was obviously something going on, most probably involving me, but I didn’t know what to make of the whole situation.

It would be pretty obvious if she called him over to talk and maybe plan somethings together to destroy me and get her freedom back, but he so clearly wasn’t the person she called over, she wasn’t even willing to let him in through the door if he didn’t barge his way in like an asshole, and whatever he said to her in there had her flipping and kicking him out like that.

Will she tell me about her unexpected meeting with Simon when I ask her about her visit?

I highly doubt it.

She would keep it a secret and I would never know what happened between them in there.

Or, I could just outright inform her that I know about her meeting with him, corner her, and intimidate her into telling me what really went down.

Yeah, I think she’s due for a little bit of explaining after refusing to tell me anything about Jacob last night.

Fifteen minutes later Mathew calls me again.

“Mathew?”

“We’re home Alex. She didn’t speak the whole way back. But… I don’t know if you consider this as weird behavior or not, so I figured you can decide that for yourself”

“What is it?”

“I was watching her closely the second she got out of the house. Her eyes were cast down, and she was hiding her face with her hair the entire time almost like she doesn’t want me to see something. I managed to sneak several looks at her from her side mirror, she was silently crying the entire time but trying to hide it from me”

“Ok thanks for telling me Mathew”

“Let me know if you need me”

I hung up the phone and put it back where it was on the table.

I tapped my fingers on the surface, deep in thought.

What got her into such a mess, she couldn’t even keep a straight face in front of Mathew?

This girl has a lot of mysteries surrounding her, more than I ever anticipated, and it’s getting rather annoying to keep on guessing them.

Because I hate nothing more than hidden mysteries, they fucking drive me insane.

It’s not a game I like playing at all.

I’m getting all my answers from you tonight Jennifer Walker.

Whatever it takes to get them.
